How Much Will Amir Really Change?

Amir Khan(Photo credit: Esther Lin/Showtime) Amir Khan (26-3, 18KO’s) is one of the most exciting and lightning fast (hand and foot speed) fighters of the present boxing era and this Saturday night he’ll climb into the squared circle again for the first time since his stoppage loss to Danny ‘Swift’ Garcia to face off with Carlos Molina (17-0-1,7 KO’s). Khan will be looking for a little bit of redemption  and he’ll also be looking to turn the eyes of the boxing world back on to him again.

In some peoples opinion Amir is in the ‘last chance saloon’ with regards to his boxing career, although I don’t think this myself. I feel boxing fans are too quick to judge when a fighter losses and I feel if a fighter losses they are quickly thrown onto the scrap heap too often, unfairly and unjustified.

I have to be honest I am a very big Khan fan, I love how fast his hand speed and footwork are, how when he is faced with adversity he still fights with all of his heart e.g. when he was hit on the neck with Garcia’s huge hook and carried on fighting instead of running (which is what he should have done). He is also a fighter who puts every ounce of energy in to the fight whether it’s the last punch that’s thrown or the lats bell that sounds.

There are still many questions that fight fans will want answering when it comes to Khan and we may not get them straight away or possibly ever.

Will he come out of the pocket quicker when throwing combinations, so he doesn’t get hit with a BIG shot on the neck again, now that he is training with Virgil Hunter?

Will he be a more defensive fighter?

Will he be as exciting?

Will he win?

No matter what the answers are I still hope Khan wins and wins well so he is catapulted back into the P4P reckoning again. Boxing needs a fighter with Khan’s attributes and skill level, there are not many fighters out there that bring the excitement he brings to the ring. A lot of Britains boxing hopes lay on the shoulders of the young fighter from Bolton.
