This is going to be a really tough fight for Jones, because Kostecki can really punch, and he’ll be looking to KO Jones Jr. to make a name for himself.

I don’t rate Kostecki in the same class as cruiserweight Denis Lebedev in punching power, but he’s maybe a tad bit faster and he throws a lot of punches. I have no doubt that a young Roy Jones Jr. would easily beat Kostecki with no problems, but Jones Jr. isn’t young anymore. He’s lost three out of his last four bouts with two of them being by knockout.

Jones Jr. does have a small chance in this fight if he can land one of his own big shots early in the fight before Kostecki has had a chance to land his own punches. However, that’s going to be tough for Jones Jr. because Kostecki will likely try and blitz Jones Jr. in the first couple of rounds like Danny Green did in his 1st round knockout win over Jones Jr. in December 2009.

Jones Jr. seemed to freeze when Green rushed him in the opening minute of the round and just covered up while against the ropes in the corner. Green unloaded on Jones Jr., knocking him down and then flurrying on him after he got back up.

Kostecki doesn’t have much in the way of experience in his 11-year pro career. That gives Jones Jr. a chance because he’s never fought anyone in Jones Jr’s class, even a shot Jones Jr. The problems for Jones Jr is that he’s had problems letting his shots go in the past three years, and he can’t afford to not get off his shots against the hard hitting Kostecki if he wants to win. Jones has to come out on fire and he’s got to put some big shots in on Kostecki in order to earn his respect in this fight.
