Image: De La Hoya thinks it's a bad idea for Pacquiao to fight Bradley againBy Dan Ambrose: Golden Boy Promotions president Oscar De La Hoya doesn’t think it’s a good idea for Manny Pacquiao and Timothy Bradley to step inside the ring again to fight in a rematch, because he thinks boxing fans will see the rematch as having been part of some grand scheme put together by Bradley and Pacquiao’s promoter Bob Arum due to the controversy from their fight earlier this month.

De La Hoya told mydesert.com “People will once again point the finger at Bob Arum. People will say he fixed the fight, people will say he orchestrated the rematch. Why do the rematch?…The fact that Bob Arum after the fight hugged Bradley and said he was the best, and then in the post fight press conference he called foul and wanted an investigation.”

De La Hoya said he felt that Pacquiao did more than enough to win the fight, and feels there’s no reason for a rematch. Instead of a rematch, De La Hoya would like to see Bradley face one of the following Golden Boy Promotions fighters: Amir Khan, Danny Garcia or Lucas Matthysse. Fat chance that happens.

Arum probably knows that Bradley is vulnerable to getting beaten by anyone with power, size or speed like those fighters, and he’s likely not going to go for the idea of putting Bradley in with Garcia, Khan or Matthysse, even though it would be a great fight for boxing fans. It could turn out really bad for Arum if Bradley gets easily beaten. Not only would Bradley’s value to him be lessened, but it would also show that Pacquiao is an aging fighter because he looked so awful against Bradley. While boxing fans still think Pacquiao should have won, there’s no getting around the fact that Pacquiao looked old, slow, and unable to to connect with any kind of accuracy. He looked like a fighter that is starting to lose it.
