Kessler 33, will be looking to make a big statement to his rivals with a big performance.

After only fighting once in the last two years due to injuries, the Viking Warrior and his promoter Kalle Sauerland have set their sights on big things at 175, but first he must get past Allan Green. The pair who were both super six participants were originally scheduled to fight in stage three of the tournament, before Kessler withdrew.

This is a risky fight for Kessler as Allan Green has very heavy-hands. Green hits hard with both hands, and any ring rust Kessler shows could end in disaster. I expect Mikkel to win this one comfortably and put on a big performance in front of his fans. Beating Green could open the door to big things, like fights against American IBF champion Tavoris Cloud or Britain’s WBO holder Nathan Cleverly, Kessler would be heavily fancied to beat both of those two with ease.

Then there is veteran Benard Hopkins, Kessler would likely have to take that fight in the States because it’s highly unlikely Hopkins would fight Kessler in Denmark. Hopkins’ style could frustrate and be very difficult for Kessler. So, that leaves the top fighter in the division ‘Bad’ Chad Dawson, with talks of him fighting Super six winner Andre Ward. For me that’s a 50/50 fight that would create a lot of interest. So, a potential unification bout with the winner could be on the arising for Kessler.
