Rubio, 31, weighed in one pound below the middleweight limit at 159lbs. Now that Chavez Jr. has made weight, he can focus on rehydrating up to what could be close to 190 for his fight tomorrow night. In looking at training photos taken three days ago, Chavez Jr. looked to be right around 190 in weight give or take a few pounds.

After he puts the water weight back in his system, that’s likely what he’ll be weighing on Saturday night against Rubio. If the draining process of making weight didn’t weaken him any, then Chavez Jr. should have a tremendous advantage against Rubio, who typically rehydrates up to 165 for his bouts. 190 vs. 165 would be a situation where you would have to favor Chavez Jr. unless he runs out of gas from carrying around all that weight.

Former two division world champion Nonito Donaire weighed in at 121.5lbs for his fight against Wilfredo Vazquez Jr. in the co-feature bout on the undercard. Donaire and Vazquez Jr. will be fighting over the vacant WBO super bantamweight title. Donaire is heavily favored. Once contributing factor for that is because Vazquez Jr. was recently knocked out by Jorge Arce last year and hasn’t done much to redeem himself since that disappointing loss. Vazquez Jr. weighed in at 122lbs.

The question about the Donaire-Vazquez Jr. fight is if Donaire’s power will have any effect on Vazquez Jr. At flyweight, super flyweight and bantamweight, Donaire was a terror due to his huge 5’7” frame, quick hands and devastating left hook. However, it may not be the same for Donaire at super bantamweight.
