Uprising Promotions light heavyweight Samuel “Main Event” Clarkson (18-3, 11 KOs) returns to the ring for the final time of 2016 on Friday night, facing 24-bout veteran Larry Pryor in the feature attraction of a card at The Bomb Factory in Dallas, Texas. The fight comes just six weeks after his last outing when he defeated the ever-durable Rayco Saunders by unanimous decision in Macon, Georgia.

“We are really excited to see Samuel finishing out the year on a strong note,” said Ronson Frank, Uprising Promotions President. “After he handles business tonight, we are setting our sights on a big 2017. Right now, we are looking to take the necessary strides to get him ranked in the top 10 so he can take on better opposition and become a force in the 175-pound weight division. It is just a matter of keeping him busy up until that point because we are ready to take on all comers.”

A Texas native, Clarkson has gone unbeaten since joining Uprising Promotions and is currently riding an eight-bout winning streak. Among those victories included a decision over former world title challenger Cedric Agnew and knockouts of highly touted prospects Jerry Odom and Lavarn Harvell on ShoBox: The New Generation. The 26-year-old has been continually improving and showing significant growth since signing with Uprising Promotions in 2015, and a win on Friday night sets the stage for bigger opportunities in 2017.

“This fight is very important because it enables Samuel to end 2016 with some good activity,” said Rory Frank, Uprising Promotions Vice President. “With another win on Friday night, he continues to become a more appealing attraction, which will lead to him getting bigger fights. Our main focus right now is to keep him busy so he remains sharp and will be ready to go when those opportunities present themselves.”

His opposition on Friday night, Larry Pryor, is a very durable boxer who has faced 15 undefeated fighters during his 24-bout career, and he has only fought four adversaries with a losing record since turning professional. Clarkson and Pryor do share one common opponent in Rayco Saunders, whom Pryor also defeated via unanimous decision back in 2014.
