Rising sensation Ryan “The Flash” Garcia (13-0, 7 KOs) exceeded all expectations in his headlining debut as he scored an explosive first-round knockout win against Tijuana, Mexico’s Fernando Vargas (33-16-3, 24 KOs) to defend his Junior NABF Super Featherweight Title in the main event of the March 22 edition of Golden Boy Boxing on ESPN and in front of a sold-out crowd of 1,807 boxing fans at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino in Indio, Calif. After calmly measuring Vargas for most of the first round, the pride of Victorville, Calif. landed a three-punch combination that finished Vargas at 2:55 of the same round.

By Dan Ambrose: Super featherweight prospect Ryan Garcia says middleweight champion Gennady ‘GGG’ Golovkin (37-0-1, 33 KOs) can’t change how he fights, and he sees Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez (49-1-2, 34 KOs) as having learned how to beat him from their last fight on September 16 in Las Vegas, Nevada. The 19-year-old Garcia says the only thing Canelo has to do is get in good condition to fight 12 hard rounds for him to beat Golovkin, because he doubts that he’ll be able to knockout him out.
In the lead up to the stacked Cinco de Mayo weekend historic boxing event headlined by Canelo Alvarez (48-1-1, 34 KOs) and Julio Cesar Chavez, Jr. (50-2-1, 32 KOs), fans will have a chance to witness some of Golden Boy Promotions’ top future stars including two Olympians and numerous undefeated fighters.

Golden Boy Promotions has signed yet another standout Southern California prospect, inking a multi-year deal with 15-time national champion Ryan Garcia.
The 18-year-old, Victorville-born Garcia, who compiled an incredible 215-15 record as an amateur, has already emerged victorious six times since turning pro this June and will make his Golden Boy debut on the undercard of Bernard Hopkins final fight on December 17th at the Fabulous Forum.
