Alvarado: It wasn’t worth taking the punishment

provodnikov7By Eric Thomas: Former WBO light welterweight champion Mike Alvarado (34-2, 23 KO’s) came out and admitted after his 10th round knockout loss to Russian Ruslan Provodnikov (23-2, 16 KO’s) last night that he felt it wasn’t worth it for him to continue fighting after the beating he took in the 10th round. Alvarado was asked by referee Tony Weeks if he wanted to continue fighting and he said no, according to Weeks.

This was one of the better fights for HBO. Compared to recent bout between Tim Bradley and Juan Manuel Marquez, this fight was leagues above it in excitement. The crowd at the 1STBANK Center, Broomfield, in Denver, Colorado, USA, was loud and energetic up until the very end of the fight.

Provodnikov vs. Alvarado rematch possible for Russia

provodnikov9By Chris Williams: The dust hasn’t even settled on Ruslan Provodnikov’s 10th round TKO victory over WBO light welterweight champion Mike Alvarado (34-2, 23 KO’s) tonight in Denver, Colorado, and they’re already talking about a rematch between them. According to Fightnews, Provodnikov’s promoter Artis Pellulo is interested in an Alvarado-Provodnikov, but the fight would have to take place in Russia rather than Denver.

At this point I’m sure that Alvarado won’t mind traveling to Russia to take the fight just as long as he gets the rematch.

For Provodnikov (23-2, 16 KO’s) a rematch with Alvarado might be about as good as it gets for him. Top Rank promoter Bob Arum likely won’t let Provodnikov face his number #1 money fighter Manny Pacquiao due to Provodnikov being a big name.

Provodnikov destroys Alvarado; Diaz defeats Santiago

provodnikov5By Jim Dower: #1 WBO Ruslan Provodnikov (23-2, 16 KO’s) gave WBO light welterweight champion Mike Alvarado (34-2, 23 KO’s) a methodical beat down on Saturday night in stopping him after the 10th round to capture his WBO 140 lb. title at the 1STBANK Center, Broomfield, in Denver, Colorado, USA. Provodnikov dropped Alvarado twice in the 8th round and just barely missed stopping him in that round after Alvarado rose at the count of 9.

Provodnikov staggered a still hurt and very tired looking Alvarado in the 9th and 10th rounds. Provodnikov battered Alvarado at will in the 10th, and had him on weak legs as the round ended. Alvarado was about to drop when the round ended. Alvarado was so hurt that he went to the wrong corner and had to be physically steered to his own corner by the referee. The fight was then stopped in between rounds by Alvarado’s corner.

Provodnikov will make Alvarado fight him

provodnikov5By Dan Ambrose: WBO light welterweight champion Mike Alvarado (34-1, 23 KO’s) wants to box challenger Ruslan Provodnikov (22-2, 15 KO’s) this Saturday night rather than getting in the trenches to slug it out at the 1STBANK Center, Broomfield, Denver, Colorado, USA. Provodnikov says he won’t let the 33-year-old Alvarado box him. He’s going to force him to get in the trenches and go toe-to-toe with him whether he wants to or not.

Provodnikov believes that if he was able to get Tim Bradley to slug with him, then he’ll be able to cut off the ring against Alvarado to force him into a war.

Provodnikov said “I don’t think he’ll be able to box with me as well as he thinks. This will turn into a fight. If I can make Timothy Bradley fight me, I don’t think there is anyone that won’t end up fighting me.”

Alvarado vs. Provodnikov this Saturday on HBO

alvarado55By Allan Fox: WBO junior welterweight champion Mike Alvarado (34-1, 23 KO’s) and challenger Ruslan Provodnikov (22-2, 15 KO’s) square off this Saturday night in a fight televised by HBO from the 1STBANK Center, Broomfield, Denver, Colorado, USA. Alvarado says he’s going to mix up his game plan by boxing and punching on Saturday.

In other words, Alvarado isn’t going to just stand in front of Provodnikov for 12 rounds like he tried to do in his first fight with Brandon Rios last year in October. Alvarado realizes now that his best chances of winning is if he can box a good percentage of the time instead of going to war like he used to do.

Ruslan Provodnikov vs. Lucas Matthysse

provodnilov4By Isaac Brodie: On the 19th Provodnikov (22-2, 15 KO’s) will have another chance to prove himself at the top level in a bid to relieve Mike Alvarado (34-1, 23 KO’s) of his WBO title.

In his last outing Ruslan proved, without a doubt, he is a serious puncher at 140-47, despite falling to Bradley via unanimous decision.

Ruslan knocked down the champion in the 12th and had him out on his feet more than once.

Now he has the chance to put that power toward a world title at his preferred weight of 140.

Alvarado and Provodnikov battle it out on October 19th

alvarado44By Gerardo Granados: After reading so many articles on different internet sites towards the disappointing outcome of the heavyweight bout between WBA – WBO – IBF – IBO belt holder Wladimir Klitschko and WBA Alexander Povetkin, I got curious and watched the fight. There´s no need to say that I am not a fan of the robotic boxing style of the current organization heavyweight champions so I don’t watch them anymore.

I convinced my friend to watch the fight and told him that the defending champion was one of the most dominant champions of the last decade; I was trying to hype the fight so he would get interested to watch a boxer that he almost never pays attention to.

Provodnikov: Alvarado will have to KO me to win

provodnikov7By Allan Fox: #1 WBO 140 lb. contender Ruslan Provodnikov (22-2, 15 KO’s) intends on making it a war against interim WBO light welterweight champion Mike Alvarado (34-1, 23 KO’s) in a little less than 2 weeks on October 19th at the 1STBANK Center, Broomfield, in Denver, Colorado, USA.

Provodnikov figures that the only way that the 33-year-old Alvarado will be able to beat him in this fight is if he stops him, because he plans on getting in his face and turning the fight into a pure war.
