Alvarado and Provodnikov battle it out on October 19th

alvarado44By Gerardo Granados: After reading so many articles on different internet sites towards the disappointing outcome of the heavyweight bout between WBA – WBO – IBF – IBO belt holder Wladimir Klitschko and WBA Alexander Povetkin, I got curious and watched the fight. There´s no need to say that I am not a fan of the robotic boxing style of the current organization heavyweight champions so I don’t watch them anymore.

I convinced my friend to watch the fight and told him that the defending champion was one of the most dominant champions of the last decade; I was trying to hype the fight so he would get interested to watch a boxer that he almost never pays attention to.

The result of the experiment came out as expected: my friend got bored. He complained to me why I would recommend him to watch such a boring fight. So I apologize and told him that I wanted a neutral opinion on the fight that I believed was as boring as usual. My friend asked for a tip on a good fight to watch next weekend so I strongly recommended him to watch the Mike Alvarado vs. Ruslan Provodnikov fight so he wouldn’t get bored this time.

The customer is always right so promoters must give them what they expect; if the casual boxing fans want an all action slug fest then they should be allowed to enjoy a “good fight” instead of a tactical boxing match. Maybe the heavyweight division will rise again in the near future but for now if the reader wants to enjoy a thrilling fight they should pay attention to the lower weight divisions.

If the reader wants to see the essence of professional boxing at his best then you should gather with your friends next October 19 to watch the Mike Alvarado vs. Ruslan Provodnikov fight. It is a close fight, Mike is brave but also has the ability to out box Ruslan, and the Russian fighter has the power to finish the fight at any round. Both men will engage and try to beat his opponent and not just systematically out point him to win on the score cards. I am betting on Provodnikov to win by late stoppage; but what about the reader, do you think you will get bored this time?
