This is some kind of unreal string of old fighters that Price is building up with him recently beating 40-year-old Audley Harrison, 45-year-old Matt Skelton and now fighting 41-year-old Tony Thompson.

By Scott Gilfoid: The trainer wheels are still very much on despite unbeaten British heavyweight David Price (15-0, 13 KO’s) about to turn 30 in July, and there’s seemingly no end in sight with his never-ending soft opponents for the former 2008 British Olympian. Price will be fighting 41-year-old Tony Thompson (36-3, 24 KO’s) on February 23rd at the Echo Arena in Liverpool, England in what is supposed to be a step up fight for the 6’8” Price. How a fighter that looks as shot as Thompson can be any kind of a step up fight is beyond me.

Price may be doing a good job of padding his record and convincing the kool-aid drinkers who don’t have a clue that Thompson is no longer what he once was many years, but isn’t fooling me. This isn’t helping Price improve. It’s actually hurting him because it’s stunting his career by causing him to stay in the same place in his boxing development instead of improving.

By Scott Gilfoid: 41-year-old heavyweight Tony Thompson (36-3, 24 KO’s) has worked out a deal to face unbeaten British heavyweight David Price (15-0, 13 KO’s) on February 23rd at the Echo Arena, in Liverpool, UK, according to Dan Rafael. Thompson reportedly wasn’t happy with the $40,000 that was offered to him and he felt that he deserved more than this to take on the 29-year-old Price.

The Echo arena has a seating capacity of 11,000 and if Price can sell out the arena that’s a pretty healthy gate. I don’t blame Thompson for wanting more money. He deserves a good payday for this fight if Price is a big ticket seller.

By Scott Gilfoid: 29-year-old heavyweight prospect David Price (15-0, 13 KO’s) has set a goal for himself to capture the EBU heavyweight title in 2013. That’s one of Price’s goals, as well as fighting in a heavyweight title eliminator bout. Price will turn 30 in July 2013, and that’s kind of old for a fighter that is looking to capture an EBU heavyweight title. That’s kind of ripe for a fighter looking to win an EBU title.

Fighters usually capture that belt in their early 20s and then move on to bigger and better things, yet Price is looking to fight for the EBU title as a 30-year-old. That’s interesting, and I think kind of goal that would be better forgotten about, at least that’s what I would recommend if I was Price’s promoter.

By Scott Gilfoid: British and Commonwealth heavyweight champion David Price (15-0, 13 KO’s) is continuing his streak of fighting 40-year-old fighters in his bout on February 23rd against 41-year-old Tony Thompson (36-3, 24 KO’s) at the Echo Arena, in Liverpool, England.

For the last two fights, the combined age of the 6’8” Price’s opponents are 85. You can now add the 41-year-old Thompson to that mix to give you a 126.

By Scott Gilfoid: It’s looking like unbeaten heavyweight David Price (15-0, 13 KO’s) will be taking his padded record into a fight against 41-year-old Tony Thompson (36-3, 24 KO’s) in February. Thompson, 6’5″, is being mentioned as the possible next opponent for the 6’8″ Price, and a lot of Price’s boxing fans see this as a big step up fight for Price.

I hate to rain on Price’s parade, but Thompson is not a step anymore, he’s more of a straight step for Price from 45-year-old Skelton to 41-year-old Thompson. This would have been a step up for Price four years ago when Thompson was still looking good and fighting on a high level, but his fight against Wladimir Klitschko last July proved that Thompson isn’t the same fighter he was in the past. He looks so much slower now, and he doesn’t throw punches like he used to.
