Marquez says KO win over Pacquiao was “divine justice”

By Chris Williams: Mexican warrior Juan Manuel Marquez closed the chapter in his series of fights against Manny Pacquiao by knocking him clean out in the 6th round in their fourth fight in 2012, and he’s still reveling in how sweet the victory was for him. Marquez felt that he’d been given a bad deal by the judges in the first three fights against the popular Filipino fighter, so he decided to take the judges out of the equation entirely by knocking Pacquiao out in their final fight.

Marquez wanted to remove all controversy against Pacquiao in their fourth fight by obliterating him with a right hand to the head that left Pacquiao face down on the canvas in their fight on December 8, 2012.

Marquez: I won all four fights with Pacquiao – why another fight?

marquez5By Chris Williams: After four fights with Manny Pacquiao, Mexican superstar Juan Manuel Marquez (56-7-1, 40 KOs) doesn’t see the point of getting back inside the ring with the 36-year-old Filipino again.

The reason why is because Marquez feels he beat Pacquiao in all four fights, but was robbed in the first three of them before finally making up his mind that he wasn’t going to let the judges play a part in his fourth fight in 2012.

That was when Marquez knocked Pacquiao out cold in the 6th round. That was a vicious knockout that left Pacquiao face down on the canvas for close to two minutes. Pacquiao was revived and thankfully he was okay afterwards. But for Marquez, he feels like he closed out the series with that final knockout, because it was the equivalent of an exclamation point.

A fifth Bout Won’t Happen Between Marquez And Pacquiao

marquez833By Alon Calinao Dy: Juan “Dinamita” Manuel Marquez (55-7-1, 40 KOs) is not going to fight Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao (55-5-2, 38 KOs) even though he will win the rematch against American Timothy Bradley.

In an interview with RingTV, Marquez said, “With Bradley, I don’t see that as a loss. It was a close fight and I thought I did enough to win. If I decided to retire right now, I would be satisfied. I always said I wanted to fight Pacquiao and beat him and I did. I do want that [welterweight] title, but I’m not obsessed with it, though it would be a great achievement.”

Marquez expected to get $13-15 million for Pacquiao 5th fight

marquez4356By Chris Williams: 40-year-old Juan Manuel Marquez (55-7-1, 40 KO’s) stands to make between $13-15 million to fight Manny Pacquiao (55-5-2, 38 KO’s) on April 12th, according to Fightnews. Bob Arum of Top Rank wants Marquez as Pacquiao’s opponent for this fight date, and he doesn’t seem ready to take no for an answer.

It’s pretty easy to see why given Pacquiao’s incredibly low pay-per-view numbers for his last fight against Brandon Rios last month. After that disaster, Arum needs a proven PPV money fighter, and the only one he’s got that he can count on to boost Pacquiao to 1 million buys and over is Marquez.

Roach wants Marquez for Pacquiao

pac7169By Chris Williams: It still burns trainer Freddie Roach that his fighter Manny Pacquiao was knocked cold by Juan Manuel Marquez almost a year ago when Pacquiao made the mistake of following Roach’s less than brilliant game plan to attack Marquez, resulting with Pacquiao getting stopped in the 6th. It was Roach’s mistake for telling Pacquiao to fight aggressively against a fighter with superior skills like Marquez.

Instead of forgetting about Pacquiao’s loss and realizing that he made the mistake of telling him to fight like he was still 25 against the counter-punching Marquez, Roach has been stewing about the loss for months and he now wants Pacquiao to fight Marquez again in what would be the 5th time between them.

Marquez is first target for Pacquiao’s next fight

By Alon Calinao Dy: On Nov. 23, 2013 at the Grand Venetian Hotel and Resort in China, we’d seen a successful comeback of Manny Pacquiao when he defeated the young fearless Mexican-American Brandon Rios that many people had thought a mismatch and one-sided decision victory for the Filipino boxing superstar.

A fifth fight between Pacquiao and Marquez won’t settle anything

marquez56By Jose Muradas: Yes, the title is correct, and it may happen. The fight is on the drawing board, and is being shopped around to casinos by Top Rank. It could become a certainty if both fighters win their upcoming fights. Juan Manuel Marquez (55-6-1, 40KO’s) with a victory over Tim Bradley (30-0-0, 12KO’s) would then have to fight the WBO’s mandatory challenger, who would be none other than Manny Pacquiao (54-5-2, 38KO’s).

If the money’s right, any fight can be made, but why continue to push this match- up on the public. Marquez will not fight Pacquiao, he has stated this already. The reasons are unclear, but he may feel that he has vindicated himself in front of the boxing world’s eyes. There is also the age factor, Marquez is 40 years old.

Manny Pacquiao and Juan Manuel Marquez: a retrospect of their 4th fight in view of their 5th fight

marquez5By Ivan Ivanov: This was a climatic episode of a famed rivalry and a defining moment in Juan Manuel Marquez’s career. I’d like to focus on the knock down and KO punches thrown by Marquez because it was basically the same shot and it looked like JMM had prepared it specifically for his nemesis, a tailor made “Pacquiao special”. The move was designed individually for Manny Pacquiao taking into consideration his southpaw stance, fighting style, temper and usual reaction to attack.

There were opinions that the KO was caused by a lucky punch, a fluke combined with lack of focus on Pacman’s part who thought his opponent was finished. This wasn’t the case and JMM laboriously executed his game plan while he was being outclassed and on the verge of being stopped by the congressman.

Roach: A win for Pacquiao over Marquez will get us closer to a Mayweather fight

roach1By Chris Williams: Trainer Freddie Roach thinks the key to his fighter Manny Pacquiao (54-5-2, 38 KO’s) getting a long awaited mega fight with Floyd Mayweather Jr. (44-0, 26 KO’s) is if Pacquiao is able to get a 5th fight with Juan Manuel Marquez (55-6-1, 40 KO’s) and knock him out.

Roach thinks the boxing world will be impressed by that, and in turn Mayweather Jr. will agree to fight Pacquiao. It sounds like a lot of ifs and wishful thinking involved for Roach, because Pacquiao has his hands full just trying to get past his next opponent Brandon Rios on November 23rd without Roach looking past him towards a revenge match against Marquez.

Why is Marquez avoiding Pacquiao?

marquez4543By Gerardo Granados: After three great fights, in which the boxing fans weren’t able to agree on who was the winner, a brutal knock out put to rest all the controversy on who won the fourth but many fans keep on arguing the reasons of the unexpected outcome. Once Juan Manuel Marquez was eager to get another shot at Manny Pacquiao, but now he feels there is no sense in making a fifth fight. Is it because he is playing it safe and smart or is it he is afraid to lose if he gives Pacquiao another shot at glory so he can redeem himself.

WBO welterweight belt holder Tim Bradley has the right tools to defeat the veteran interim WBO light welterweight champion Juan Manuel Marquez. Tim has average power but is young, has good chin, great stamina, has the size edge and also has better speed than Juan Manuel;
