Cotto the Brave, Pacquiao the Brilliant

By Charles Barrett: With bravery above and beyond the call of duty Miguel Cotto some how made it to the 12th rd, only to be stopped 55 sec’s later. In truth it had stopped being competitive from the 6th rd, but even though the battle was lost the warrior refused to concede defeat.

Boxing can be the cruelest of sports and many had questioned the heart of Cotto after the Margarito surrender.

Pacquiao stops Cotto

cotto6Photo credit: Naoki Fukuda – By Eric Hernandez: Like the fighters last night there were a few different ways, I could have went with this boxing article. I replayed the fight in my head and I was instantly flooded with the image of a very broken Miguel Cotto sitting in his stool as he was planning to go one last round with the mighty Manny Pacquiao. I will not shy away from my prediction which called for a late fight stoppage of Pacman but I have to be honest, seeing Pacquiao in the dressing room all smiles and with that look of a cat that just ate the canary sent a chill of concern down my spine.

As I watched at the weigh in, I changed my mind as to who I thought would win. Cotto looked like a lollypop, he had zero energy and the Pacquiao camp had planned for this, in my opinion. Pacquiao did not beat Miguel Cotto last night. He beat a ghost of Miguel Cotto.

Many pundits have made excuses about Pacquiao’s last few opponents, but I have written on many occasions that the Pacman was a different fighter since moving up to 135 pounds. Cotto fighting for his Legacy

By Eric Hernandez: watched the weight in and I have to say that both fighters looked in phenomenal shape. Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao was particularly impressive as he reminded me of someone who has had an obvious impact on him the late Bruce Lee. Miguel Cotto while not as ripped also appeared to be in phenomenal shape.

Let’s hope the referee and judges are not against Miguel Cotto

cotto5343By Liam Santiago: Lets get one thing straight. There are many big money men in America, who are involved in the organization of tonight’s mega fight between Miguel Cotto and Manuel Pacquiao, who want a Pacquiao/Mayweather super fight next year. They do not want Cotto spoiling the party. I just hope none of that affects judging and, more importantly, the referee’s actions.
