Fury: Charles Martin will KO Anthony Joshua cold!

joshua2By Scott Gilfoid: IBO/WBA/WBO heavyweight champion Tyson Fury has analyzed this Saturday’s contest between IBF heavyweight champion Charles Martin (23-0-1, 21 KOs) and Britain’s Anthony Joshua (15-0, 15 KOs) and come to the conclusion that all Joshua has is a puncher’s chance to beat the talented 6’5” Martin in their fight on April 9 at the O2 Arena in London, UK.

Fury sees Joshua as a fighter that lacks the boxing skills to get the job done. Indeed, Fury sees Joshua as little more than a slow puncher with almost no experience at the pro level. The only true fight that Joshua has had since he turned pro three years ago was his fight against an injured Dillian Whyte, who came into their fight with a bad left shoulder that he re-injured in the 2nd round after almost knocking Joshua out.

“I just think Joshua is useless,” said Fury via the mirror.co.uk. “He’s got no footwork, he can’t box and he’s got no jab so that means he’s useless.

Martin expects this fight to end by a knockout, but not him being the one that’s flattened. Martin feels he’s going to KO Joshua in front of his own fans on April 9 and he could be right.

The 6’5” Martin didn’t have to defend his title against Joshua in the UK, as he could have taken a nice soft voluntary defense against one of the fringe contenders like we see with many champions in the sport. Milking world titles has become sort of a custom with champions. I don’t care who it is, were always seeing milking going on.

Fury doesn’t think the judges will give Martin decision against a fighter like Joshua, who he sees as little more than a hype job at best. However, Fury still thinks the tall 6’5” Martin will win the fight because he will be getting a knockout against the 26-year-old Joshua.

Joshua thinks the 6’5” Martin is a cool customer the way he doesn’t stress out in the heat of battle. Martin keeps it together mentally and picks up opponents apart with his powerful left hand shots to the head. Martin’s southpaw style and his huge size gives his opponents big time problems, and he expects the slightly taller 6’6” Joshua to have the same kinds of problems as the other guys have had in the past.

Joshua, 26, says he plans on putting the heat on Martin to make it an unpredictable fight. In other words, Joshua plans on bum rushing Martin to try and bang up out in the first couple of rounds like he’s done with all the poor opponents that his promoter Eddie Hearn has found for him to blow through.

Martin says Joshua is top heavy with skinny legs. Those muscles are going to cause Joshua to wear down in the second half of the fight right when Martin is going up.

Parker, 24, could soon be facing Joshua for the IBF title if Parker beats #5 IBF Carlos Takam in their IBF eliminator bout in May. There isn’t a set date for the Takam vs. Parker fight, but it’s definitely going to take place in May.

The winner of the contest will be the IBF mandatory challenger and will face the winner of the Martin-Joshua fight at some point in the future.

Groves vs. Brophy added to Martin-Joshua card

There had been talk of the 27-year-old Groves fighting former four-time world title challenger loser Martin Murray, but that fight isn’t happening next for Groves. It looks like he needs another confidence booster type of fight, and the 25-year-old light hitting Brophy is the perfect opponent for Groves to boost his confidence.

This is arguably a step down from Groves’ last opponent Andrea Di Luisa, who he stopped in the 5th round last January at the Copper Box Arena in London, UK.

joshua455By Scott Gilfoid: In 24 days from now, unbeaten Anthony Joshua (15-0, 15 KOs) will be fighting for a world title against the talented and hard hitting IBF heavyweight champion Charles Martin (23-0-1, 21 KOs) on April 9 on Sky Box Office at the O2 Arena in London, UK.

Joshua, 26, has been training hard to develop his muscles with the belief that they will help him win the fight against the 6’5” Martin. That’s mistake number. You don’t train muscles when you’re are trying to beat a highly skilled southpaw like Martin. On the contrary, you need to strip off muscles and try and become as fast as humanely possible, especially if your name is Joshua. He’s already incredibly slow with his punching style, and he doesn’t have a finesse approach to fighting.

In other words, Joshua just goes straight at his opponents hoping that he can overpower them. In the Olympics, this approach failed for Joshua because three of his four opponents got the better of him when he was fighting that way, even though he was given controversial wins in all three of those fights.
