1-CHARLES MARTIN-MEDIA WORKOUT-01122015-8821By Scott Gilfoid: IBF heavyweight champion Charles Martin (23-0, 21 KOs) isn’t worried about fighting in the hometown of unbeaten challenger Anthony Joshua (15-0, 15 KOs) in their fight on April 9 at the O2 Arena in London, UK.

Martin feels that he’s going to smash Joshua to bits and then his fans will adopt as their new hero to follow. Martin says that wherever he goes on this earth, it’s his home. He doesn’t see England being any different than any other place that he comes to.

It would be kind of bad for Joshua I guess if Martin is the one that winds up getting the cheers after their fight on April 9. If the fans carry Martin out of the ring on their shoulders and ignore the defeated Joshua, it might be an uncomfortable situation for the 6’6” Olympic gold medalist. However, it would be a good thing for the fans because if they embrace Martin immediately, they won’t go home angry or disappointed. They’ll have a new hero to worship.

“This is my back yard. Wherever I go, I feel at home. I don’t feel that I am coming into his den, wherever I take myself on this Earth is mine, I make it mine,” Martin said to skysports.com. “Let them be fans of Joshua because when I knock him out on April 9 they are going to be Prince Charles Martin fans.”

Martin is having one of his best camps ever according to him, and he’s already peaked and ready for the fight, which is now less than two weeks away. This is going to be an interesting fight because it’s Joshua’s first real test of his career.

Boxing fans will find out in this fight whether Joshua is a hype job like a lot of people think he is or if he’s the real thing. With the match-making that’s been done for the 26-year-old Joshua by his utterly careful promoter Eddie Hearn, it’s kept fans from finding out whether Joshua is any good or not.

The fans can’t really know anything from the gawd awful opponents that Joshua has fought because he’s not been facing good opponents during the entirety of his four-year pro career. The only thing that the fans know about Joshua is that he won a controversial gold medal in the 2012 London Olympics and appeared to lose two to four of his fights in that competition. Martin says that Joshua was “gifted a gold medal in the 2012 Olympics.

Whatever the case, that was the last time Joshua fought good competition, and we did see that he appeared to lose to Erislandy Savon from Cuban and Roberto Cammarelle from Italy. Further, Joshua also arguably lost to Zhilei Zhang from China and Ivan Dychko from Ukraine.

“I am peaked right now; we are just maintaining right now. All the hard work has been done,” said Martin. “The best camp I’ve ever had. I feel in the best shape I’ve ever been in. So, we good.”

The Joshua vs. Martin fight will be televised on Showtime in the States, so boxing fans will get a chance to see the fight. It’s going to be a real treat for the fans, and it’s potentially going to be a big deal for Martin if he wins. He’ll become one of the new stars in America.
