Lucas Browne Staying Busy For Chagaev Title Tilt

MDR-160612-Browne-v-Rasani-19By Adam Beechers: WBA #3 heavyweight contender Lucas Browne 22(19)-0 will be keeping active ahead of his mandatory challenge against Russia’s WBA World Champion Ruslan Chagaev 34(21)-2-1.

The hard hitting Australian has been inactive since his 5th round win over Kiwi Chauncy Welliver 55(22)-11-5 in November of last year. ‘Big Daddy’ Browne will have to wait until potentially 2016 for his shot at the Uzbek Champion due to Chagaev’s forced rematch with Puerto Rico’s Fres Oquendo 37(24)-8.

Browne, 36, has yet to step up to any decent class of opponent yet with his biggest wins coming against Richard Towers and Andriy Rudenko, who were both undefeated at the time. Browne will be in action against Argentinian journeyman Gonzalo Omar Basile 66(30)-11 on August 14th at the Melbourne Pavilion, Flemington, Victoria, according to Hatton Promotions.

Deontay Wilder is going to get knocked out by Povetkin, says Lucas Browne

1-DEONTAY WILDER-MEDIA WORKOUT-9559By Scott Gilfoid: Unbeaten heavyweight contender Lucas Browne (22-0, 19 KOs) thinks WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder (34-0, 33 KOs) will be getting knocked out next year when he defends his title against his #1 WBC mandatory challenger Alexander Povetkin.

Wilder has a voluntary defense he’ll be taking on September 26th in Las Vegas, Nevada. Chris Arreola is one of the potential opponents or his fight. But after that, Wilder will need to get down to business in defending his title against Povetkin.

Lucas Browne says Deontay Wilder has no chin

1-DEONTAY WILDER VICTORY-06132015-5328By Scott Gilfoid: #6 WBC Lucas Browne (22-0, 19 KOs) appears to be barking up the wrong street in heavily pursuing a fight against KO artist Deontay Wilder (34-0, 33 KOs) for his September 26th title defense of his WBC heavyweight title.

Browne is started trash talking the talented 6’7” Wilder something fierce and it looks like the 36-year-old Australian really fancies his chances against him.

Deontay Wilder targeting Vyacheskav Gkazkov or Lucas Browne on September 26th on NBC

1-DEONTAY WILDER-MEDIA WORKOUT-9911By Scott Gilfoid: Unbeaten heavyweight talent Deontay Wilder (34-0, 33 KOs) will be defending his WBC strap against one of two undefeated heavily ranked top 10 contenders on September 26th against #3 WBC Vyacheslav Glazkov (20-0-1, 12 KOs) or #6 WBC Lucas Browne (22-0, 19 KOs) on Premier Boxing Champions on NBC, according to Lance Pugmire of the LA Times.

This is a voluntary defense for the 6’7” Wilder, so he’d be showing a ton of courage to face one of those two guys for his next title defense. However, Wilder will be in tough in his fight after this when he has to defend his WBC strap against his #1 WBC mandatory challenger Alexander Povetkin in early 2016.

Deontay Wilder: Lucas Browne might be my next opponent

wilderBy Scott Gilfoid: WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder (34-0, 33 KOs) says he’s interested in facing #6 WBC contender Lucas Browne (22-0, 19 KOs) because the trash talking the Australian fighter has been doing as of late has made it personal for him. Wilder would like nothing better than to get the 36-year-old Browne inside the ring so that he can test his power shots on his chin.

Browne is currently waiting on getting a crack at the WBA champion Ruslan Chagaev, and it’s doubtful that he would be willing to accept a far more dangerous fight against the 6’7” Wilder.

Lucas Browne could be added to a long list of exposed heavyweights

MDR-160612-Browne-v-Rasani-19By Gav Duthie: Will Lucas Browne 22-0 (19) be added to a long list of hyped heavyweights exposed as they step up in class. The WBA have ordered a defence for their regular champion Ruslan Chagaev 33-2-1 (20) to face the Australian Browne.

Heavyweights Exposed

Matchmaking is very difficult at heavyweight because one punch can end it all. There is much more chance of big knockout upsets than in any other division. As a result promoters massively over-protect their fighters on the way up but in the end they get horribly exposed.

Lucas Browne wants Chagaev fight

LUCAS “BIG DADDY” BROWNE believes he should be given a shot at the WBA interim heavyweight title or even regular champion Ruslan Chagaev in the wake of the Luis Ortiz doping scandal.

Ortiz won the interim strap with a one round KO of Lateef Kayode in September, but the result has now been made a no contest and the belt is likely to be declared vacant after the Cuban tested positive for the banned substance Nandrolone.

Lucas Browne: I’d knock Deontay Wilder out, I punch harder than him

deontay533By Scott Gilfoid: #8 WBC heavyweight contender Lucas “Big Daddy” Browne wasn’t impressed with what he saw of #1 WBC Deontay Wilder (32-0, 32 KOs) last Saturday night in watching him destroy a badly over-matched Jason Gavern (25-17-4, 11 KOs) in four rounds at the StubHub Center in Carson, California.

Deontay didn’t destroy Gavern, one of his former sparring partners, immediately in the 1st round like he’d done 18 times in the past against other opposition. The fact that Deontay let Gavern survive, almost out what appeared to be kindness, has Browne thinking that Deontay isn’t as powerful as many boxing fans think.

Lucas Browne vs. Andriy Rudenko this Friday

Boxing Sheffield Ponds Forge 18By Scott Gilfoid: #8 WBC Lucas “Big Daddy” Browne (20-0, 18 KOs) will be fighting unbeaten Ukrainian Andriy Rudenko (24-0, 16 KO’s) this Friday night in heavyweight action at the Civic Hall, Wolverhampton, West Midlands, United Kingdom.

This is an important fight for the 35-year-old Browne, because he can’t afford to lose it if he wants to keep on pace to get an eventual title shot in 2-3 years. Browne is ranked high enough to where he could in theory get picked out by the WBC heavyweight champion in an optional title shot, but the more likely reality is that Brown is going to need to fight his way to the WBC mandatory sport before he gets a shot.
