Relikh emulating Golovkin for Burns fight

By Scott Gilfoid: Undefeated #1 WBA Kiryl Relikh (21-0, 19 KOs) plans on taking the fight to WBA World light welterweight champion Ricky Burns (40-5-1, 14 KOs) this Friday night on October 7 in the same way that middleweight champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin does to his opponents by turning the fight into a real war.

Relikh, who comes from Belarus and is trained by former two division world champion Ricky Hatton, is a vicious body puncher in the Golovkin mold. Hatton has turned the Eastern European Relikh into a body puncher similar to how Golovkin was transformed into a dangerous body puncher when he teamed up with trainer Abel Sanchez.

Adrien Broner vs. Ricky Burns possible if Ricky beats Relikh

By Scott Gilfoid: If WBA World light welterweight champion Ricky Burns (40-5-1, 14 KOs) can get past his dangerous mandatory challenger Kiryl Relikh (21-0, 19 KOs) in their fight next month on October 7, then a fight between Burns and former four division world champion Adrien “The Problem” Broner (32-2, 24 KOs) is possible in December in the United States.

Broner, 27, recently sent a Tweet of encouragement to the 33-year-old Burns, saying “Go out and get the job done and then me and him are going at it,” about his upcoming fight against the hard hitting 26-year-old Relikh for their fight at The SSE Hydro in Glasgow, Scotland. Burns doesn’t want to look past the fighter from Belarus Relikh, because he realizes how tough this fight potentially will be.

Burns has turned his sagging career around in his last three fights against Michele Di Rocco, Josh King and Prince Ofotsu in winning all three fights to capture the vacant WBA 140lb title.

By Scott Gilfoid: WBA World light welterweight champion Ricky Burns (40-5-1, 14 KOs) will be making his first defense of his World Boxing Association against his #1 WBA mandatory challenger Kiryl Relikh (21-0, 19 KOs) on October 7 at The SSE Hydro, in Glasgow, Scotland.

This is going to be a really tough fight for the 33-year-old Burns, because Relikh is a real talent from Belarus with a lot of punching power and youth. Relikh is only 26, and he’s knocked out his last 11 opponents over a four-year time span. I see Relikh as the 140lb division’s version of Gennady “GGG” Golovkin, but he’s a heck of a lot younger than him.
