Amir Khan blames parties for his loss to Garcia

khan#11By Mark Havey: Amir Khan thrived under the tutelage of trainer Freddie Roach. Before he joined Roach he had just been knocked out in 52 seconds to a unknown fighter. The world famous Wildcard gym was what he felt he needed. Roach turned the former Olympian into a multiple world champion and PPV star. But things turned sour after Amir Khan was brutally knocked out by the confident Danny Garcia.

That is the case in most gyms. There are times when in training when it’s better to lose in Sparring. You work on defense and don’t really throw punches. Other times you work on certain punches or combinations. Amir should have ignored the thoughts on how other see him and focused on what was best for him. looking good in the gym is great but how much does in matter if you look bad in a fight. And getting knocked out after you have talked a good fight, looks bad.

Danny Garcia: I beat Khan once and I’ll beat him again if I have to

garcia4543By Scott Gilfoid: WBA/WBC light welterweight champion Danny Garcia (25-0, 16 KO’s) will be taking his first step to an eventual rematch with Amir Khan (27-3, 19 KO’s) by defending his title next month against 35-year-old Zab Judah (42-7, 29 KO’s) on April 27th at the Barclays Center, in Brooklyn, New York, USA.

If Garcia wins that fight, he’ll have to face the winner of the Lucas Matthysse vs. Lamont Peterson fight, which is scheduled for May 18th, and then if Garcia wins that bout he’ll be back in the ring with Khan either late 2013 or early 2014.

Garcia said to Sky Sports “I beat him [Khan] once and I could beat him again…so if I had to fight Khan again and my manager thinks it’s a good move…then we’re going to do it.”

Amir Khan vs. Danny Garcia 2: Who will win?

khan468By Gibran Samad: All boxing fans know that 2012 was a great year for boxing with many action packed fights and many upset KO’s, one of them being Danny Garcia’s 4th round TKO win over Amir Khan. Amir had a good start for the first couple of rounds, catching Danny with a few blistering combinations and cutting him with the right hand. Amir was using his blazing speed and flurry of punches to get to Danny. He had his speed that night, but not his head movement.

In round 3, Khan was throwing his flash flurry of shots when Garcia threw his dynamite left, catching Khan cold in an exchange. With Amir’s arms flying, he hit the canvass and made it back up. He was clearly still hurt and was saved by the bell. Round 4 came and Garcia was on the hunt, he then dropped Amir about 2 times before referee Kenny Bayless called a stop to the fight. After that night, Danny has been on a roll with 2 KO victories over the legendary Mexican Erik Morales.

Schaefer: Khan-Garcia 2 rematch will take place in November or December

khan09By Scott Gilfoid: Richard Schaefer of Golden Boy Promotions is looking at November or December for the Amir Khan vs. Danny Garcia rematch. Khan has a fight date coming up on April 20th against a still to be determined opponent, while Garcia is facing 35-year-old Zab Judah next month on February 9th. It’s expected that Garcia will easily destroy the past his best Judah, and Golden Boy will likely feed Khan another beatable fighter for his April date.

However, Garcia may have to fight WBC interim light welterweight champion Lucas Matthysse in between February and November/December, and there’s no telling who will win that fight. Garcia is a good fighter, but he’s still a pretty limited guy with only one big punch to his arsenal.

Khan: Danny Garcia doesn’t want to fight me

khan4353By Scott Gilfoid: Amir Khan believes that his conqueror WBA/WBC light welterweight champion Danny Garcia doesn’t want to fight him for some reason, and says he’s going to push his promoters at Golden Boy Promotions to try and persuade Garcia to fight him later on this year so that Khan can try ad avenge his 4th round knockout loss.

Khan said to Sky Sports “We’d love to fight Danny Garcia in a rematch. It’s a fight that the world wants to see, but right now Danny Garcia doesn’t seem to want to fight me. But we’re still going to push him and with help from Golden Boy Promotions, I’m sure the fight can be made.

Khan reflects on loss to Garcia: I was surprised the referee stopped it

khan468By Scott Gilfoid: It’s so sad when fighters don’t realize when they’ve been knocked out and foolishly blame the referee when they get spanked. Amir Khan still doesn’t seem to realize how bad off he was when he got destroyed by WBC light welterweight champion Danny Garcia last July in a 4th round TKO. Khan was knocked down once in the 3rd round and twice more in the 4th before the referee mercifully saved Khan from taking even more punishment by stopping the fight.

Khan said to thesun.co.uk “I was a little surprised the referee stopped it. I thought he was going to let us continue. My mind was clear and I thought my legs were ok but I respect the referee, the judges and the commission, maybe they made the right call.”

Garcia: Khan was a lot faster than I thought he would be

khan5634By William Mackay: WBA/WBC light welterweight champion Danny Garcia (25-0, 16 KO’s) was a little bit in shock in facing Amir Khan last July in his 4th round TKO victory over him in Las Vegas, Nevada. Garcia said he wasn’t expecting the kind of hand speed that Khan possessed in that fight and that’s why he was getting hit so often by Khan in the first couple of rounds. It wasn’t until Garcia adjusted to Khan’s speed that he was finally able to start landing his own shots.

Speaking with esnewsreporting.co, Garcia said “At first I wasn’t even seeing his punches. I was like snap. He was a lot faster than I expected. He wasn’t hurting me but it was fast. I started to see his punches in the 2nd and in the beginning of the 3rd. That’s when I started to land a couple of body shots and walking him down.”

Khan: I’ll move up to 147 after I beat Danny Garcia

khan45By Scott Gilfoid: Amir Khan (27-3, 19 KO’s) says he’ll be moving up to welterweight immediately after he avenges his loss to WBA/WBC light welterweight champion Danny Garcia in last 2013. Khan wants to capture Garcia’s two titles, prove that his loss to him was a fluke thing, and then look for more titles at welterweight.

Khan said on Sky Ringside “Maybe by the end of the year [2013] that fight [Danny Garcia] can happen. I’m not going to leave the light welterweight until I fight Garcia again and get my title back, [and] then I think it’ll be the right time to move up. At the moment, I make the 140 pound division quite easily. So Virgil [Hunter] is still advising me to stay at this weight.“

Khan already looking past his next fight; wants rematch with Garcia

khan34By Scott Gilfoid: As fast and as talented as Amir Khan, he has a bad habit of looking too far off into the future for titles he wants to capture and fighters he wants to take on. Khan is now talking about how he plans on fighting a rematch with his former conqueror WBA/WBC light welterweight champion Danny Garcia AFTER Khan defeats his next opponent in April for a world title.
Khan is assuming he’s going to beat one of the 140 pound champions in April, and then face Garcia in a unification bout after that.

Khan said to the BBC Sport “The next fight is going to be around April time…looking at being in the 140 lb division for world title, and then unifying it with Garcia.”

Danny Garcia: Khan doesn’t look like he’s changed his fighting style at all

YouTube video
By William Mackay: WBA/WBC light welterweight champion Danny Garcia saw Amir Khan’s win last Saturday night over the smaller lightweight Carlos Molina, and Garcia says Khan looks pretty much the same as he always has in his past fights. Garcia noted that Khan is still getting hit a lot despite having a new trainer in Virgil Hunter, who Khan maintains has improved him dramatically on defense.

Garcia said to Radio Raheem “He [Khan] did what he had to do. I guess the smaller guy [Molina] can’t punch. To be honest, I saw the same Amir Khan. He was getting hit a lot with punches, but the guy couldn’t hurt him because he was a smaller guy with no power.”
