khan09By Scott Gilfoid: Richard Schaefer of Golden Boy Promotions is looking at November or December for the Amir Khan vs. Danny Garcia rematch. Khan has a fight date coming up on April 20th against a still to be determined opponent, while Garcia is facing 35-year-old Zab Judah next month on February 9th. It’s expected that Garcia will easily destroy the past his best Judah, and Golden Boy will likely feed Khan another beatable fighter for his April date.

However, Garcia may have to fight WBC interim light welterweight champion Lucas Matthysse in between February and November/December, and there’s no telling who will win that fight. Garcia is a good fighter, but he’s still a pretty limited guy with only one big punch to his arsenal.

If Garcia can’t stop Matthysse with his left hook, he’s going to be in for a world of hurt against Matthysse. I see that as a toss-up fight.

Schaefer said to Sky Sports News “The plan is to have Khan fight in April, and then Garcia in November or December.”

You might as well put a knockout loss next to Khan’s name for whichever month he ends up fighting Garcia because he’s going to lose that fight by another knockout. There are guys that Khan can beat, but Garcia and Breidis Prescott are not one of them. Those guys have Khan’s number and no matter how many times they fight him, I can see Khan getting knocked out each time.

I would add Marcos Maidana to the list but it would depend on which referee is working the fight. Khan should have been knocked out by Maidana in 2010, but the referee kept getting in the way of Maidana when he was trying to finish off a badly hurt Khan in the 10th round. I can see Maidana knocking Khan out in a rematch, as long as he’s not having to fight the referee and Khan at the same time.
