Broner: I told you I wouldn’t do interviews or talk

Broner, 26, spoke to the media briefly today in celebrating his game of silence. It was just really strange to hear Broner saying he wasn’t going to speak but here he was speaking and breaking his promise.

Broner was late for tonight’s final press conference with Allakhverdiev.

This was a further sign to Allakhverdiev that Broner is afraid, because he doesn’t see any reason why he should be late for a press conference in his own hometown of Cincinnati.

Allakhverdiev, 32, thinks that Broner will be playing his usual games when he gets inside the ring with him on October 3rd on Showtime Championship Boxing, but he’s going to be ready for the fight with his own games to play that will offset the tricks that Broner is playing.

Broner, 26, says he wants to start taking the sport more seriously now that he’s 26, and he wants to learn from his recent losses to Shawn Porter and Marcos Maidana. Broner has lost two out of his last five fights, and his career is on the brink of failure.

Broner, 26, is still bent out of shape after being quite rightfully raked over the coals by Dan Rafael about him being allowed to fight for the vacant WBA “regular” 140lb title Against the 32-year-old #5 WBA Allakhverdiev rather than against #1 WBA Jose Benavidez (23-0, 16 KOs), who has been skipped over completely by the World Boxing Association for this fight.

Allakhverdiev, 24, hasn’t fought in over a year a half since losing his WBA 140lb title to Jessie Vargas by a 12 round unanimous decision in April 2014. It’s unknown why the World Boxing Association is letting Allakhverdiev get a title straightaway off of a loss to Vargas and an almost two year period of inactivity.

Instead of Broner speaking to the media to announce his fight October 3rd against former WBA light welterweight champion Khabib Allakhverdiev (19-1, 9 KOs), Broner had one of his friends come up and speak for him.

Broner, 25, recently said on his social media account on Twitter that he won’t be giving any interviews to the media or speaking during press conferences until after the fight is over. However, fighters are typical expected to take part in the press conferences to speak with the media and the boxing public who attend the conferences.

Adrien Broner vs. Khabib Allakhverdiev in the works for October 3rd

broner11111By Dan Ambrose: A fight between former three division world champion Adrien Broner (30-2, 22 KOs) and former WBA 140lb champion Khabib Allakhverdiev (19-1, 9 KOs) is in the works for October 3rd, according to news from USA Today. The opponents for Broner’s October 3rd fight was initially down to Steven Upsher Chambers and the 24-year-old Allakhverdiev.

The Russian former World Boxing Association champion got the nod for the fight. Broner and Allakhverdiev will be fighting over the vacant WBA 140lb title.
