Froch-Kessler: Will this be the beginning of the end for Carl?

Image: Froch-Kessler: Will this be the beginning of the end for Carl?By Scott Gilfoid: WBC super middleweight champion Carl Froch will be facing an arguably much superior fighter on Saturday night in Herning, Denmark. Froch’s opponent, Mikkel Kessler, has almost every advantage that you can even think of going into this fight, except for his recent loss to Andre Ward. Minus that, Kessler seems to have all the cards stacked in his favor for their Super Six tournament fight with Froch. I just worry that this might be the start of a cascade of loses for Froch.

Kessler: “I’ll need to be an animal in the ring” against Froch

Image: Kessler: “I’ll need to be an animal in the ring” against FrochBy Sean McDaniel: Mikkel Kessler (42-2, 32 KO’s) realizes some of the things he did wrong in his 11 round technical defeat to American Andre Ward last year in November 2009, and has worked hard on correcting those problems. One area that Kessler has spotted for improvement is his aggression. He plans on being much more aggressive in his fight on Saturday night against World Boxing Council (WBC) super middleweight champion Carl Froch (26-0, 20 KO’s), saying in an article at the Irish times, “I’ll need to be an animal in the ring. I’ve been working on my footwork and have sparred 174 rounds. Maybe I have been too nice before.” That could be.

Froch thinks Kessler might choose to jab and hold

Image: Froch thinks Kessler might choose to jab and holdPhoto Credit -Tony Brochner – By William Mackay: WBC super middleweight champion Carl Froch (26-0, 20 KO’s) thinks that his Super Six tournament opponent this Saturday night Mikkel Kessler (42-2, 32 KO’s) could choose to box him from the outside, saying in an article at the Telegraph, “He [Kessler] might opt to jab, move and keep out of my way and put on a bit of a boxing match. It’s then my job to cut off the ring and put him on his back foot and hammer home some big digs. Once I start hitting him, though, he might start holding.”

Kessler-Froch: Can Carl overpower Mikkel?

Image: Kessler-Froch: Can Carl overpower Mikkel?By William Mackay: If you look at some of WBC Carl Froch’s recent fights, he comes across like a rough piece of machinery that has rusted and is badly in need of oil and retooling. Froch doesn’t make anything look easy, as he tends to absorb a great deal of punishment when facing good opposition and looks slow and very hittable at all times. He faces Mikkel Kessler on April 24th, in Herning, Denmark, in a stage 2 Super Six tourney fight.

Predictions: Froch, Dirrell and Ward to come out on top

Image: Predictions: Froch, Dirrell and Ward to come out on topBy Dennis Broadhurst:

Froch-Kessler: I see this fight coming out with Froch on top through a hard fought decision or very late stoppage. I think Froch will struggle in the early rounds with Kessler but his chin will take him through to dominate the later rounds (9-12). I would not be suprised for Froch to be dropped early on much like against Taylor but then coming back. I don’t think Kessler likes taking a hit (not that anyone does) he will backdown later on when Froch comes on strong with his powerful punches, thinking he will need a knockout to win and may score a stoppage but will have the last round rally he needed. Both men will be great on the night but I see a tight victory for Froch.

Kessler-Froch: Will Carl’s ‘0’ disappear on April 24th?

Image: Kessler-Froch: Will Carl’s ‘0’ disappear on April 24th?By Scott Gilfoid: Every fighter starts out with zero losses on their record, and if they’re lucky, they don’t suffer their first loss for a couple of years. And if they’re matched carefully enough to avoid dangerous opponents, they can get well into their career before they experience their first loss. World Boxing Council super middleweight champion Carl Froch (26-0, 20 KO’s) is one of those rare fighters that has gone fairly deep into his career without being beaten. Granted, Froch only has tiny handful of fights against what I would call major league opposition, but Froch is still technically undefeated at this point so you have to give him some credit.
