By Scott Gilfoid: Eric Molina (25-3, 19 KOs) will be challenging IBF heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua (17-0, 17 KOs) for his title this Saturday night on Sky Box Office pay-per-view in what will be a packed house of Joshua supporters at the Manchester Arena in Manchester, England. The Joshua and Molina fight will be televised on Showtime Championship Boxing in the States starting at 5:30 p.m. ET.

Molina, 34, is going to be out there pretty much by his lonesome with his training team and a tiny number of fans rooting for him on Saturday night. Molina doesn’t care, because he knows he can hurt the 6’6” Joshua if he hits him right.

Joshua says Molina won’t hit him on Saturday

joshua8

By Scott Gilfoid: IBF heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua (17-0, 17 KOs) says he’s going to go 12 rounds and not let his opponent #8 IBF Eric Molina (25-3, 19 KOs) hit him this Saturday night on December 10 when the two of them face each other at the Manchester Arena in Manchester, England.

Joshua, 27, wants to out-box the 34-year-old Molina and show a comparison between how beats him and how WBC champion Deontay “Bronze Bomber defeated him in their fight in 2015. Wilder stopped Molina in the 9th round last year in June. That was a fight in which Wilder was coming off of a fractured right hand injury from his previous fight against Bermane Stiverne.

Haye interested in Klitschko rematch

haye343434

By Scott Gilfoid: If the cards play out right, 36-year-old David Haye (28-2, 26 KOs) and 40-year-old Wladimir Klitschko (64-4, 53 KOs) could meet up for a rematch in 2017 if Wladimir is able to beat IBF heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua to take his title.

Haye wants to fight the winner of the Joshua-Klitschko fight. He’s never faced Joshua, so obviously that’s a fight that he badly wants. But if Wladimir is able to go back to the Fountain of Youth to find the energy needed for him to beat Joshua, then Haye would love a rematch with him.

Both Haye and Wladimir will be at ringside on December 10 to scout out Joshua in his voluntary title defense against fringe contender Eric Molina (25-3, 19 KOs) at the Manchester Arena in Manchester, England.

By Scott Gilfoid: Middleweight contender Chris Eubank Jr. wants to be added to the December 10 card headlined by IBF heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua vs. Erick Molina at the Manchester Arena in Manchester, England. The card will be televised by Sky Box Office pay-per-view. The 27-year-old Eubank Jr. (23-1, 18 KOs), who has been out with an injury since his 4th round knockout win over domestic level fighter Tom Doran last January, took to Twitter last Saturday to let the boxing fans know that he wants to be added to the Joshua-Molina card. Eubank Jr’s promoter Eddie Hearn says he’s going to meet with Eubank Jr. to discuss whether it’s possible for him to fight on the card.

Hearn asked Joshua if it’s possible for Eubank Jr. to fight on the card. Hearn figures that Eubank Jr. might want a lot of money to fight on the card, and he thinks he would want another soft opponent.

Joshua explains why he selected Molina over Price

joshua854

By Scott Gilfoid: Heavyweight David Price was hoping to get a title shot against IBF heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua for his next fight in December. Instead, Joshua surprised many boxing fans by opting to fight 34-year-old Eric Molina (25-3, 19 KOs) instead on December 10 at the Manchester Arena in Manchester, England. Not long before Joshua made his decision to fight Molina next, news surfaced about an old sparring incident between Price and Joshua involving a knockdown of Joshua.

It was thought that Price only revealed the incident in an attempt to get a fight against Joshua. Joshua still chose to fight Molina #8 IBF next rather than Price (21-3, 18 KOs). A fight between Joshua and Price would have likely been the bigger fight due to Price being a more recognizable name in the UK than Molina, who is mostly known for his knockout losses to World Boxing Council heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder last year and Chris Arreola in 2012.

Joshua was thinking of fighting Whyte on December 10

joshua44

By Scott Gilfoid: Before IBF heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua decided on fighting #8 IBF Eric Molina in his fight on December 10, he had been kicking around the idea of facing Dillian Whyte in a rematch. Joshua stopped Whyte in the 7th round last December in their competitive fight at the O2 Arena in London, England.

Whyte had Joshua out on his feet in the 2nd round after clipping him with a left hook to the head. If not for Whyte suffering a shoulder injury in the same round, he likely would have knocked Joshua out.

Deontay Wilder wants Anthony Joshua in 2017

BOXING

By Scott Gilfoid: WBC heavyweight champion Deontay “Bronze Bomber” Wilder (37-0, 36 KOs) wants to take IBF heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua’s title from him in 2017 if the fight can get made. Wilder sees Joshua’s December 10th fight against #8 IBF Eric Molina (25-3, 19 KOs) as a prelude to a fight between the two of them in 2017.

Wilder is just hoping that the 26-year-old Joshua (17-0, 17 KOs) can get past the hard hitting 6’4” Molina, because the challenger will be coming into the ring to fight his heart out on December 10. Molina won’t be an easy out for Joshua, as he’ll be looking to bounce right hands off the chin of the British fighter, especially if he bum rushes him like he does against all of his opponents.

Joshua expects Molina to put out 50-60% more effort

joshua56666444

By Scott Gilfoid: IBF heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua (17-0, 17 KOs) believes his opponent Eric Molina (25-3, 19 KOs) will put out as much as 60% more effort next month in their fight on December 10 at the Manchester Arena in Manchester, England. Joshua believes that fighters give more of themselves when they fight in big fights like the one that Molina will be in next month.

Joshua thinks the 34-year-old Molina is the toughest guy of the ones they were looking at for him to fight. The other opponents that Joshua had to pick from were from this list: Bermane Stiverne, Kubrat Pulev, Hughie Fury, Johan Duhaupas, Joseph Parker, and Jarell Miller.

I can’t say that Molina was the toughest of this bunch. I do think Molina is a heck of a lot better than Hughie Fury though, but that’s the only one on the list that I feel that Molina is better than.

Wilder expects Eric Molina to give Joshua problems

1-joshuamolinahires

By Scott Gilfoid: WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder expects former world title challenger Eric Molina (25-3, 19 KOs) to potentially give IBF heavyweight title holder Anthony Joshua (17-0, 17 KOs) problems in their fight on December 10 at the Manchester Arena in Manchester, England.

Wilder thinks that Molina’s heart and determination to win will make him fight harder. Molina will take more shots in this fight in order to try and win. He’ll land more shots. Joshua will need to be able to take some punches for a change, because the guys he’s been fighting haven’t been throwing punches.

They’ve been just standing around looking too timid to let their hands go. The last time Joshua fought guys that threw punches back at him was in the 2012 Olympics, when he won one controversial fight after another against guys that appeared to get the better of him.

Molina: I’ll hit Joshua harder than he’s ever been hit

1-WILDERvsMOLINA-06132015-4562

By Scott Gilfoid: Contender Eric Molina 25-3, 19 KOs) says he plans on hitting IBF heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua (17-0, 17 KOs) harder than he’s ever been hit before in his three-year pro career when the heavyweights fight each other next month on December 10 on Sky Box Office pay-per-view from the Manchester Arena in Manchester, England.

It doesn’t really say much that Molina will be hitting Joshua harder than he’s been hit as a pro, because he’s been matched by his promoter against largely non-punchers since he turned pro. The only guy of the 17 opponents that Joshua has faced with any kind of pop in his punches was Dillian Whyte, who came into the fight with him last December with a bad left shoulder. That was Whyte’s power hand.
