Miller vs. Kassi this Friday

By Allan Fox: Unbeaten heavyweight contender Jarrell “Big Baby” Miller (17-0-1, 15 KOs) will be fighting this Friday night against journeyman Fred Kassi (18-5-1, 10 KOs) in Miller’s biggest test to day on Showtime Boxing at the Rhinos Stadium in Rochester, New York.

The Miller vs. Kassi fight is scheduled for 10 rounds, and it’s likely going to go the full distance unless the 6’4”, 280+ pound Miller can use his size and punching power to get the 6’0” Kassi out of there. It’s not likely.

Kassi, 36, has only been knocked out once in his 13-year pro career in getting stopped in the 7th round by the big punching Amir Mansour in November 2014. Up until the knockout, the fight was very competitive with Kassi giving Mansour a lot of problems.

Miller, 28, has never gone the full 10 round distance before during his seven-year pro career, so there’s a lot of questions whether he can do that without fading badly and getting caught with something.

Jarrell ‘Big Baby’ Miller update

Promoter Greg Cohen of Greg Cohen Promotions says he could not be happier with the performance turned in last Friday night by the fighter he co-promotes (with Dmitriy Salita of Salita Promotions), undefeated heavyweight slugger Jarrell “Big Baby” Miller.

Miller, now 16-0-1, 14 KOs, showed both his frightening power and excellent boxing skills while scoring a brutal TKO 7 over an extremely game Donovan Dennis. Fighting in the co-main event of a nationally televised ShoBox: The New Generation from the Casino Del Sol in Tucson, Arizona, Miller made believers out of many by displaying depth and ring intelligence to go with his sledgehammer fists.

Jarrell Miller vs Donovan DennisBy Allan Fox: #15 WBA heavyweight contender Jarrell “Big Baby” Miller (16-0-1, 14 KOs) showed good punching power last Friday night in dispatching the much smaller 218lb Donovan Dennis (12-3, 10 KOs) in the 7th round in their fight at the Casino Del Sol, in Tucson, Arizona, USA.

Miller hurt Dennis with a hard right hand to the head in the 7th. Miller than finished Dennis off with a powerful left-right combination that had him out on his feet and helpless. Referee Tony Zaino stepped in at that point and stopped the fight at 2:31 of the round before Miller could hit Dennis again.
