Pascal, 28, is 17 years younger than Hopkins and much faster than him. Pascal is in the prime of his career right now with recent wins over Chad Dawson and Adrian Diaconu. For his part, Hopkins peaked as a fighter over 10 years ago and has been coasting downhill slowly, still doing will by picking and choosing his opponents carefully.

Compared to Hopkins’ last fight against 41-year-old Roy Jones Jr., which didn’t do well in terms of ticket sales, this fight is selling incredibly well with over 15,000 tickets already purchased for the clash in Quebec. It’s great news for Hopkins and Pascal, because this fight will really help both of their careers, especially the winner.
De La Hoya thinks Hopkins will beat Pascal

De La Hoya, who knows first hand how good Hopkins can be, was stopped by him in the 9th round six years ago. On December 18th 2010, future hall a famer Bernard Hopkins (51-5 32 KO) will travel to Quebec City Canada to meet WBC champion Jean Pascal (26-1 16 KO).This has me thinking is Hopkins a genius or has he finally bitten off more than he can chew ? This is essentially a home town fight for the younger, faster and stronger Pascal but even at the age of 45 Hopkins should never be under estimated. His résumé includes wins over such fighters as Glen Johnson, Felix Trinidad, Oscar De la Hoya, Antonio Tarver , Winky Wright, Kelly Pavlik and he also avenged his 1993 loss to Roy Jones in his last fight.

By Dan Ambrose: World Boxing Council (WBC) light heavyweight champion Jean Pascal (26-1, 16 KO’s) will be putting his title on the line against 45-year-old number #1 ranked WBO light heavyweight contender Bernard Hopkins (51-5-1, 32 KO’s) on December 18th at the Pepsi Coliseum, Quebec City, in Quebec, Canada. Pascal, 27, will have the chance to put Hopkins out of his misery and hand him a crushing defeat. Hopkins will be turning 46 in January 2011, just one month after his fight with Pascal. Given how eroded Hopkins’ skills have looked in his last two fights against Enrique Ornelas and Roy Jones Jr., it’s likely he’s going to be in way over his head against the young, fast and powerful Pascal.

You have to wonder who they’re going to lump with this fight. Likely, it will be a few Canadian prospects, but hopefully someone decent like middleweight David Lemieux or someone of that caliber.
