By Eric Baldwin: WBC World super flyweight champion Roman “Chocolatito” Gonzalez (46-0, 38 KOs) will be defending his title against former WBC champion Carlos Cuadras (35-1-1, 27 KOs) in a rematch in March, according to World Boxing Council president Mauricio Sulaiman. This is great news for the fans, because the previous Gonzalez-Cuadras fight was an all-out brawl for 12 rounds.

Gonzalez, 29, defeated Cuadras by a 12 round unanimous decision on September 10 on HBO Championship Boxing in an exciting fight at the Forum in Inglewood, California. Despite suffering a lot of facial swelling at the hands of the younger, bigger and stronger Cuadras, Gonzalez was able to prevail in winning by the scores 115-113, 116-112 and 117-111.

Cuadras: I think I won against Gonzalez

cuadras4321

By Dan Ambrose: World Boxing Council World super flyweight champion Carlos “Principe” Cuadras (35-1-1, 27 KOs) wasn’t too happy at losing his WBC 115lb belt to unbeaten pound-for-pound star Roman “Chocolatito” Gonzalez, (46-0-0, 38KO’s) by a 12 round unanimous decision last Saturday night at The Forum in Inglewood, California. The hulking Cuadras, who looked like a featherweight in the ring last Saturday, claimed that he should have been given the decision by the judges.

The judges scored the fight 117-111, 116-112 and 115-113. I had Gonzalez winning eight rounds to four. I couldn’t give Cuadras many of the later rounds of the fight because he looked like he was tired and unable to stand and fight the smaller Gonzalez.

By Dan Ambrose: WBC super flyweight champion Carlos “El Principe: Cuadras (35-0-1, 27 KOs) isn’t worried about the combination punching from his unbeaten opponent Roman “Chocolatito” Gonzalez (45-0, 38 KOs) for their fight this Saturday night, because he believes his superior size and punching power will ultimately be too much for the 29-year-old Nicaraguan challenger.

There are many boxing fans who believe that Cuadras is too big, too strong and too mobile for Gonzalez to beat. Up until now, “Chocolatito” has looked unbeatable in striding through three divisions to win world titles. However, this time it might be different for the fighter that has never tasted defeat, and never felt what it was like to be in the losing end.
