Hughie Fury battles Fred Kassi on 4/30

hughieBy Scott Gilfoid: The boxing world is going to find out what the tall 6’6” heavyweight Hughie Fury (19-0, 10 KOs) is made of this Saturday night in his fight against Fred Kassi (18-4-1, 10 KOs) in their 10 round contest for the vacant WBO International heavyweight title at the Copper Box Arena in London, UK.

I won’t be surprised in the least if we see a controversial decision in this fight. I really hope we don’t see Kassi, the visiting fighter, on the receiving end of a questionable outcome because that won’t help Hughie any. Hughie has the size to win, but size didn’t help the 6’7″ Dominic Breazeale against Kassi last September. Breazeale has more physical gifts than Hughie, and yet he was getting nailed by big power shots from Kassi all night long.

Hughie Fury bragging about taking tough fights

hughie4By Scott Gilfoid: After three years as a pro, heavyweight prospect Hughie Fury (19-0, 10 KOs) will finally be taking on a decent opponent in the hard hitting and crafty Fred Kassi (18-4-1, 10 KOs) at the end of the month on April 30 at the Copper Box Arena in London, UK.

The fight will be televised on BoxNation. Hughie is bragging about how he’s taking on the tough fights that no one else wants to take. That’s pretty mind boggling that Hughie would come up with that line because the guy hasn’t faced a talented opponent yet. I mean, Hughie’s last fight against 40-year-old journeyman Dominic Guinn last March.

Hughie Fury could fight for world title by 2017

fury6777By Patrick McHugh: Unbeaten 6’6” heavyweight prospect Hughie Fury (19-0, 10 KOs) could be fighting for a world title within the next six months, according to promoter Frank Warren. Hughie is fighting well and moving his career along steadily with victories over solid fighters.

The 21-year-old Hughie will be taking his biggest step of his career in a little over two weeks from now against the 6’0” Fred Kassi (18-4-1, 10 KOs) on April 30 at the Copper Box Arena in London, UK. The Hughie vs. Kassi fight will be the top of the bill of the card, which will be televised on BoxNation.

If Hughie can get past Kassi and look good in doing so, then it’ll show the boxing world that he’s for real as a potential future world title challenger. Kassi has recently been a problem opponent for fighters like Chris Arrerola and Dominic Breazeale.

Kassi, 6’0”, has good punching power, but he’s found himself having problems getting victories lately despite fighting well.

Arreola takes on Kassi today for possible Deontay Wilder title shot

Arreola and KassiBy Dan Ambrose: If there was ever a time where Chris Arreola (36-4, 31 KOs) needs to put in one of his better performances it’s tonight in his 10 round fight against 35-year-old Fred Kassi (18-3, 10 KOs) at the Don Haskins Center in El Paso, Texas.

If the 34-year-old Arreola wins, he could wind up fighting for a world title against WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder on September 26th. Arreola recently came up empty last year in a 6th round stoppage loss to Bermane Stiverne, but against Wilder, Arreola would have a better chance of winning.

Arreola wants to look good against Kassi to get Wilder fight

arreola453By Scott Gilfoid: #12 WBC Chris Arreola (36-4, 31 KOs) is in the running for a fight against WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder (34-0, 33 KOs) on September 26th. Wilder hasn’t said who his opponent will be for that date, but Arreola has been mentioning as a possibility if he looks good and wins his next fight against Fred Kassi (18-3, 10 KOs) on July 18th at the Don Haskins Convention Center, in El Paso, Texas, USA.

The 34-year-old Arreola says he’ll retire if he fails to win a world in this attempt, which will be his third try for a world title. Even if Arreola doesn’t get the fight against Wilder in September, he still has a good chance of eventually getting a shot at the WBC belt in the near future, as long as Arreola keeps winning against the guys his management are putting him in with.
