Image: Donaire wants to get back to his roots for Nishioka boutBy Chris Williams: First it was Manny Pacquiao wanting to turn back the clock and now it’s IBF/WBO super bantamweight champion Nonito Donaire (29-1, 18 KO’s) in wanting to back to the early stages of his boxing form for his fight this Saturday night against former WBC super bantamweight champion Toshiaki Nishioka (39-4-3, 24 KO’s) at the Home Depot Center, in Carson, California, USA.

Donaire looking to show his power against Nishioka on Saturday

Image: Donaire looking to show his power against Nishioka on SaturdayBy Chris Williams: IBF/WBO super bantamweight champion Nonito Donaire (29-1, 18 KO’s) has an old lion in front of him this Saturday night in facing 36-year-old Toshiaki Nishioka (39-4-3, 24 KO’s) on HBO at the Home Depot Center, in Carson, California, USA. Donaire claims that Nishioka is the best fighter in the super bantamweight division, but Donaire seems to be the only one that believes this because the general consensus around the internet boxing forums is that Nishioka has picked old gray lion and is trying to make more of the fight than there actually is.

The real tests for Donaire at super bantamweight are champions Abner Mares and Guillermo Rigondeaux, but Donaire has been going in different directions than them for some reason despite these guys wanting to fight him. We’re seeing Donaire vs. Jeffrey Mathebula, Donaire vs. Omar Narvaez and now Donaire vs. Nishioka.

Image: Kellerman sees Donaire beating Nishioka, possibly by knockoutBy Allan Fox: Max Kellerman sees IBF/WBO super bantamweight champion Nonito Donaire (29-1, 18 KO’s) as having too much talent, youth and power for 36-year-old former WBC super bantamweight champion Toshiaki Nishioka (34-4-3, 24 KO’s) to deal with in this advanced stage in his once career in their October 13th fight at the Home Depot Center, in Carson, California.

Kellerman said to Thaboxingvoice.com “He’s [Nishioka] a tremendous fighter, but he’s 36-years-old and Donaire is a special talent…Donaire might knock Nishioka out. I think he’s that good.”

Donaire in potentially tough fight against Nishioka

By Chris Williams: It’s difficult to really get an accurate gauge on the October 13th fight between IBF/WBO super bantamweight champion Nonito Donaire (29-1, 18 KO’s) and former WBC super bantamweight champion Toshiaki Nishioka (39-4-3, 24 KO’s) at the Home Depot Center in Carson, California. The reason why it’s so difficult to get a handle on this fight is because the 36-year-old Nishioka is so highly ranked by Ring Magazine and the sanctioning bodies despite the fact that he looked absolutely horrible in his last fight and many of his fights during his career.
