Khan: I know I can give Canelo a boxing lesson

Image: Khan: I know I can give Canelo a boxing lesson(Photo Credit: Hogan Photos/Golden Boy Promotions) By Allan Fox: WBC middleweight champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (46-1-1, 32 KOs) was looking really drained today in his grand arrival at the MGM Grand in Las Veas, Nevada for his title defense against Amir Khan (31-3, 19 KOs) on Saturday night. Canelo has to cut down to 155lbs for the catch-weight, and it seems like he needs to be fighting at the full weight for the division at 160.

Khan says he’s going to give Canelo a boxing lesson on Saturday night. Khan has been working on his speed and movement so that he can keep out range of Canelo’s short power shots. Khan feels that he’s going to make Canelo look bad, take his WBC title in front of his fans, and then go home with the belt to Great Britain. Khan has never been surer of a victory before during his career because he’s done his homework well in studying the 25-year-old Canelo’s fights and coming up with a great game plan to defeat his fighting style.

Canelo vs. Khan: Is this the next Fight of the Century deception?

canelo87By Gerardo Granados: This Saturday on May 7, the fight between elite 155 pounder Saul Alvarez and welter Amir Khan, will finally let their fans know why this bout is considered as a huge mismatch by a couple of long time fight fans. The betting odds are extremely close at 4 -1, but that doesn’t make the fight more even.

With the WBC Middleweight belt at stake and the Lineal status for the winner of this bout, it should already had caught the interest of all fight fans around the world, but it seems that if it wasn’t for the constant hype on major TV media and by on payroll boxing analyst, then only the fight fans who follow boxing on diary bases would know the correct magnitude about it.

A friend of mine challenged me to say something positive about the Canelo vs Khan bout. He bet to me that I would fail, because according to him I am envious of both Canelo and Khan millionaire life style. So, I replied to him, the very same thing Wladimir Klitschko said in the first press conference of his Tyson Fury rematch.

Khan says he won’t fight Mayweather now if asked

khan836By Patrick McHugh: With the big payday Amir Khan (31-3, 19 KOs) is getting to fight for a world title this Saturday night against WBC 160lb champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (46-1-1, 32 KOs), the 29-year-old Khan says he wouldn’t fight Floyd Mayweather Jr. if he came back now and asked to fight him. Khan sees the aging 39-year-old Mayweather as a bitter person longing for the limelight now that he’s quickly being forgotten in the minds of boxing fans. Mayweather has been replaced by Canelo and Gennady Golovkin.

Khan is said to be getting $13 million for the Canelo fight on Saturday. That money gives Khan the freedom to turn up his nose at a fight against Mayweather if it were ever offered to him, which it likely never will. Mayweather doesn’t fancy a fight against Khan, who has blistering hand and foot speed.

Khan says he didn’t like the way Mayweather treated him by not agreeing to fight him. Mayweather gave Khan hope for a fight at one point in the past several years ago by asking fans to pick his next opponent.

Khan to get $13 million for Canelo Alvarez fight

khan111By Jeff Aranow: Amir “King” Khan (31-3, 19 KOs) will be getting a huge payday this Saturday in his fight against WBC middleweight champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (46-1-1, 32 KOs). Khan will be getting a reported $13 million for the fight. This isn’t bad money for a title challenger, especially considering that Khan turned down a big payday fight against IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook.

The Canelo-Khan will be televised on HBO PPV, and Canelo’s promoter Oscar De La Hoya of Golden Boy Promotions expects the fight to bring in 2 million PPV buys. Canelo will very likely be getting a career payday against Khan because this is a fight that will almost surely bring in more PPV buys on HBO than Canelo’s last fight against Miguel Cotto last November. That fight brought in 900,000 PPV buys on HBO.

Hunter expects Canelo to come in lighter for Khan fight

canelo9343By Dan Ambrose: WBC middleweight champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (46-1-1, 32 KOs) will presumably be coming into this Saturday’s fight against Amir Khan (31-3, 19 KOs) at a lighter weight than he’s done in the past.

Khan’s trainer Virgil Hunter expects the 25-year-old Canelo to be lighter than he usually is but he still expects him to be the same type of fighter that he usually is. Hunter doesn’t see Canelo changing how he fights even if he’s lighter than he normally is.

Khan says his speed will be too much for Canelo

Image: Khan says his speed will be too much for CaneloBy Dan Ambrose: Amir Khan (31-3, 19 KOs) says his hand speed will be too much for the bigger and slower WBC middleweight champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (46-1-1, 32 KOs) in their fight this Saturday night on HBO PPV. Khan has bulked up for this fight from the welterweight division, and he feels the strongest he’s ever been in a fight.

The fight will be taking place at a catch-weight of 155lbs, and that gives Khan an extra eight pounds from what he usually weighs in at 147. Khan believes the added weight will make him stronger. However, Khan will still be dealing with a heavier fighter in Canelo, who generally rehydrates into the 170s for his fights.

Ward: Amir Khan is daring to be great

1-KhanPrepares4Canelo_Hoganphotos10By Dan Ambrose: Amir Khan (31-3, 19 KOs) is six days away from challenging the younger, bigger, and stronger WBC middleweight champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (46-1-1, 32 KOs) next Saturday night on HBO pay-per-view at the T-Mobile Arena, in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Khan has bulked up for this fight and is said to be heavier than he’s ever been before. Khan said recently that he expects to be in the 160lbs on fight night. It should be easy for him to make the 155lb catch-weight that Canelo insisted on, and then rehydrated from five to 10 pounds to come into the fight in the 160s.

Berto: Khan has what it takes to win against Canelo

berto8(Photo credit: Premier Boxing Champions) By Dan Ambrose: Andre Berto is picking Amir “King” Khan (31-3, 19 KOs) to defeat WBC middleweight champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (46-1-1, 32 KOs) in their fight on May 7.

The two fighters have less than two weeks to go for their big fight on HBO PPV, and it’s going to be interesting to see which of these two will come out on top. Canelo is the clear favorite in this fight, but that doesn’t mean a whole lot because Canelo was made to look silly by Floyd Mayweather Jr. in 2013, and Canelo didn’t look any better against the only fighter with reasonably fast hands that he’s faced since then in Erislandy Lara.

Canelo vs. Khan: Amir Khan looks to make history

Canelo vs. Khan: The Bull and The Matador?

1-KhanPrepares4Canelo_Hoganphotos14By Rob Blakeman: So, one of these men is exaggerated and we are about to discover which. Amir Khan against Mexican Champion Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez for the World Middleweight Title is set for May the 7th and it makes for an intriguing matchup. The British man Khan still calls himself ‘King’ despite three losses, (two by knockout) and all three by second and third tier fighters at best.

True, he has beaten some good guys too-but no one great or in their prime. He has huge ego and at times seems more concerned with money and courting celebrity than being a great fighter. Why else would he take this huge weight disadvantaged gamble? He has also had long periods of inactivity.
