By Scott Gilfoid: WBC lightweight champion Adrien Broner (26-0, 22 KO’s) says he doesn’t see any reason for him to move up to 140 and 147 to get bigger fights, if HBO will keep paying him good cash to beat up on lightweights like he did last night when he whipped Gavin Rees (37-2-1, 18 KO’s) by a 5th round TKO.
Broner said after the fight, “Everybody’s so anxious for me to go up when I just got on the scale with a Sprite [soda] just yesterday. So I make so comfortable, I’m sorry to say, but I’m a legal bank robber. I just robbed a bank tonight. As long as HBO keeps paying me to fight these lightweights…I’ve never been on a farm, but milking a cow real good.”

Broner says he really hit him hard with that body shot, and felt it with his hand.

Broner says he’s really hoping Burns wins that fight so that he can face him in the near future later on this year.

By Scott Gilfoid: Last night, Gavin Rees (37-2-1, 18 KO’s) was blown apart by WBC lightweight champion Adrien Broner (26-0, 22 KO’s) in a two knockdown, 5th round TKO loss in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Other than a few shots here and there landed by Rees in the first couple of rounds when Broner was just playing around, it was totally one-sided.

The Boxing sensation just looked too big and powerful for the much smaller Gavin Rees (37-2-1, 18 KO’s). Broner defended his WBC lightweight title which is pretty much going to be his as long as he remains in the division.
By Steven Ocallaghan: After watching WBC lightweight champion Adrien Broner (26-0, 22 KO’s) stop a very game but ultimately over-matched Gavin Rees (37-2-1, 18 KO’s) in at the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey, USA last night, I don’t think there is any reason for WBO lightweight champion Ricky Burns (35-2, 10 KO’s) to feel worried at all. I always thought Broner would win, but I thought Rees would take him a little further but it was a good performance. In watching Broner’s performance it took him a couple of rounds to warm up but the main thing I noticed is that he is a 1 minute a round fighter.
