I apologize that the word final was written 4 times, but it was intentional because this would-be Alvarez’s 4th final eliminator to get a shot at the WBC title held by Adonis Stevenson.

By Jeff Aranow: The World Boxing Council has sanctioned the Oleksandr Gvozdyk vs. Eleider Alvarez fight to face the winner of the fight between WBC light heavyweight champion Adonis Stevenson and Badou Jack. The WBC states that the Stevenson-Jack winner MUST face the Alvarez vs. Gvozdyk winner.

By Dan Amrbose: World Boxing Council president Mauricio Sulaiman will be sanctioning the fight between WBC light heavyweight champion Adonis ‘Superman’ Stevenson (29-1, 24 KOs) and former 2 division world champion Badou ‘The Ripper’ Jack (22-1-2, 13 KOs). Additionally, the WBC will also be ordering a fight between #1 WBC Eleider Alvarez (23-0, 11 KOs) and #2 WBC Oleksandr Gvozdyk (14-0, 12 KOs). This will be a mini-tournament, according to Sulaiman.

By Jim Dower: Badou Jack (22-1-2, 13 KOs) says he didn’t vacate his WBA World light heavyweight title to duck an ordered fight against interim WBA champion Dmitry Bivol (11-0, 9 KOs). According to Jack, part of the agreement he signed for his fight against Nathan Cleverly on August 26 was that he would vacate the WBA 175 lb. title so they could get up another bigger fight than that.
