By Scott Gilfoid: WBO middleweight champion Billy Joe Saunders (24-0, 12 KOs) ripped into middleweight champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin and challenger Avandil Khurtsidze (33-2-2, 22 KOs) at a press conference to hype his fight on July 8 at the Georgian fighter at the Copper Box Arena in London, England. Saunders said that Golovkin didn’t look his best against his last opponent Danny Jacobs in their fight last March because he was drug tested 5 times, and that it was a “fair playing field” for the fight. Saunders said he could be wrong in his opinion on Golovkin. Saunders also questioned whether his opponent Khurtsidze has ever taken drugs before in the past.

WBO Middleweight World Champion Billy Joe Saunders will make the second defence of his crown against mandatory challenger Avtandil Khurtsidze on Saturday 8th July at London’s Copper Box Arena, live on BT Sport and BoxNation.

Hatfield’s Saunders (24-0, 12 KOs) defeated Irish hero Andy Lee to take the WBO strap in a close and absorbing fight back in December 2015 that saw the undefeated star floor the former Champion twice in the third round and go on to claim a majority decision from the judges.

The 29-year-old Fury revealed the news on his Twitter account. Fury taking the shotgun approach to his comeback by spitting out different comeback dates left and right, none of which Gilfoid believes. Fury is still very heavy. Last month, he said he was weighing 350 pounds. I wouldn’t be surprise if he hasn’t lost any of that weight.

By Scott Gilfoid: With WBO middleweight champion Billy Joe Saunders in negotiations for a fight against IBF/IBO/WBA/WBC champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin on June 10, #1 WBO Avtandil Khurtsidze will fight Tommy Langford for the interim WBO 160 pound title on April 22 at the Leicester Arena in Leicester, England. Dan Rafael is reporting the big news about the Khurtsidze-Langford fight, which isn’t a bad match-up. The winner of the fight will face the winner of the Golovkin vs. Saunders fight at some point in the future.

The fight will likely need to take place soon, as Saunders has already been ordered by the World Boxing Organization to fight back to back mandatory challengers due to him having sat inactive for 1 year before he finally made a voluntary defense against fringe contender Artur Akavov last December.
