Szpilka sparring with Eric Molina to get ready for Wilder

wilder45552222By Scott Gilfoid: #8 WBC Artur Szpilka (20-1, 15 KOs) has been sparring with former world title challenger Eric Molina (24-3, 18 KOs) to get ready for a title shot of his own against WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder (35-0, 34 KOs) on January 16th from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

Molina, 33, was stopped in the 9th round by Deontay last year in June in a fight that took place in Birmingham, Alabama. Molina had his moments in the fight in twice stunning Wilder with big shots. However, Wilder took over the fight completely by the 6th round and never looked back.

Molina should have taken advantage of the fact that Wilder rarely used his right hand in the fight due to him coming off of a fractured hand in his previous fight against Bermane Stiverne in January of this year. Molina fought too timidly, and was unable to take advantage of the one-armed Wilder.

“I have had some really good sparring with Molina. Both of our trainers are impressed by what I can do and they tell me that if I box in the same way [when I face Wilder] as I’m doing in training – I should overcome Wilder,” Szpilka said via skysports.com.

Deontay Wilder: No days off from boxing!

wilder45552222By Scott Gilfoid: WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder (35-0, 34 KOs) isn’t taking any days off as he prepares for his January 16th fight against challenger Artur Szpilka (20-1, 15 KOs). Wilder, 6’7”, isn’t taking this fight lightly, because he knows this is Szpilka’s Super Bowl, and he understands the Polish fighter is going to be totally amped up trying to beat him to capture his WBC title.

If Szpilka can beat Wilder, he would get a fight against Alexander Povetkin and then possibly a big money fight against the winner of the Wladimir Klitschko vs. Tyson Fury rematch.

Szpilka, 26, has turned his career around since his loss to Bryant Jennings from a year ago. Szpilka looks much better now than he did in that fight, and he’s really shined in winning his four fights. Szpilka beat Yasmany Consuegra, Tomasz Adamek, Manuel Quezada and Tyson Cobb. He looked great in all four fights. The wins showed that the 26-year-old Szpilka has gotten better with training and learning from the mistakes that he made against Jennings. The question is can the improvement Szpilka has made in his game help him to defeat a talent like Wilder? I think not, but there’s always a chance.

Deontay Wilder has Christmas greetings for Artur Szpilka

wilder4555By Scott Gilfoid: WBC heavyweight champion Deontay “Bronzebomber” Wilder (35-0, 34 KOs) put together a nice little Christmas greetings today to his next opponent Artur “Szpila The Pin” Szpilka (20-1, 15 KOs) ahead of their fight next month on January 16th on Showtime Championship Boxing from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

Wilder, 6’7”, wanted to wish Szpilka a nice little “seasons beating” for their fight. Out of the kindness of Wilder’s heart, he offered up a kind greeting to the 26-year-old Szpilka.

Szpilka is going to need a ton of luck for this fight because he’s facing what many boxing fans see as the best heavyweight on the planet now. Wladimir Klitschko got old, got beat, and is now likely to be sent into retirement by the light hitting Tyson Fury in early 2016.

With Only Deontay, Fury, and Ruslan Chagaev holding world titles at heavyweight, Deontay figures to be the best of the three by a considerable margin in the minds of many fans. Interim WBA heavyweight champion Luis “The Real King Kong” Ortiz (24-0, 21 KOs) doesn’t count in the equation because he’s still not a full champion, and he still hasn’t beaten anyone talented. I’m sorry, but I don’t count Bryant Jennings as being a talented fighter.

Deontay: I’m going to whip Fury for Lennox Lewis

wilder(Photo credit: Lucas Noonan/Premier Boxing Champions) By Scott Gilfoid: WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder (35-0, 34 KOs) says he doesn’t like the comments that IBO/WBA/WBO heavyweight champion Tyson Fury (25-0, 18 KOs) recently made about the 50-year-old Lennox Lewis, and he plans on giving Fury a real hiding when he eventually gets him inside the ring with him.

Just when that will happen is anyone’s guess. Heck, by the time Deontay faces Fury in the future, Fury will unlikely still be a world champion. Someone is going to get to Fury soon and take his scalp and his world titles at the same time.

Wilder: I’m KO’ing Szpilka and sending a message

wilder100By Scott Gilfoid: WBC heavyweight champion Deontay “Bronze Bomber” Wilder (35-0, 34 KOs) plans on scoring a knockout over challenger Artur Szpilka (20-1, 15 KOs) next month and sending a message to the heavyweight division in the process when he faces Szpilka on January 16th on Showtime from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

The talented Deontay feels he’s the best heavyweight in the division right now bar none, and his predicted knockout victory over the 26-year-old Szpilka will put the world on notice that he’s not to be messed with.

Szpilka is just one of many young lions that are vying for Wilder’s throne. You also have heavyweights like Anthony Joshua, who is being carefully guided with motherly care by his promoter Eddie Hearn to get his eventual shot at Deontay at some point.

Deontay Wilder: You can’t buy greatness in a store

wilder100By Scott Gilfoid: WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder (35-0, 34 KOs) is looking for greatness with his pro career. He’s already won one world title after beating Bermane Stiverne earlier this year to rip his WBC belt away from him in a magnificent performance. Wilder next will be defending his WBC title a month from now against #8 WBC Artur Szpilka (20-1, 15 KOs) on January 16 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

After Deontay takes care of business against Szpilka, he’ll be looking to accomplish big things in 2016 by beating the aging 36-year-old #1 WBC Alexander Povetkin, who just happens to be Wilder’s mandatory challenger, and then he wants to go after IBO/WBA/WBO heavyweight champion Tyson Fury’s scalp to add to his collection.

A victory for Wilder over Fury will bring him one-step closer to greatness. I am not saying that beating Fury would make Wilder great, because I see Fury as a feather-fisted opportunist, who was only able to beat Wladimir Klitschko because he got old and was finally beatable.

Szpilka willing to take risks against Deontay Wilder

1-LR_ARTUR SZPILKA-SHOBOX-12112015-0086

By Scott Gilfoid: #8 WBC Artur Szpilka (20-1, 15 KOs) says he’s going to take the fight to the tall 6’7” WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder (35-0, 34 KOs) and look to get close enough to land his big power shots on the American slugger in their fight on January 16th.

Szpilka, 26, realizes he’s got an uphill climb in this fight due to Wilder’s incredible right hand punching power, but he doesn’t care because he’s willing to risk being knocked out in order to land his own payload of power shots in this very interesting match-up at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. The fight will be televised on Showtime Championship Boxing.

Deontay Wilder: Szpilka doesn’t have heart when it gets tough

DEONTAY WILDER-MEDIA WORKOUT-9831By Scott Gilfoid: BC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder (35-0, 34 KOs) finally has an opponent scheduled for his January 16tght fight next month in Brooklyn, New York. Wilder will be fighting the tough but limited Artur Szpilka (20-1, 15 KOs) in a fight on Showtime.

Wilder sees Szpilka has a good fighter, but one who lacks heart when fights turn out to be grueling affairs where he needs to dig deep. The example of a fight where Wilder feels that Szpilka was unable to come up with the heart to win was his fight last year against Bryant Jennings.

Szpilka: I’m ready to put on a show for my fans

wilder555By Tim Fletcher: Artur Szpilka (20-1, 15 KOs) is ready to put on a big show for his loyal fans next month when he challenges WBC heavyweight champion Deontay “Bronze Bomber” Wilder (35-0, 34 KOs) on January 16th at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. Szpilka was selected by Wilder’s management to face the hard hitting champion in his third title defense.

Szpilka expects to have many of his fans to come see him fight Wilder and watch him pull off a big upset. It would be an upset if the 26-year-old Szpilka wins, because he’s being brought in as the opponent. It’s supposed to be a safe pick by Wilder’s team.

If Szpilka can pull off an upset in this fight, it would be a major blow to the career of Wilder, and it would ruin his big hopes for a title unification fight against the winner of the Tyson Fury vs. Wladimir Klitschko fight in 2016.
