Wladimir is Nervous About Vitali’s Bout Against Arreola

By Dave Lahr: IBF/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko, the younger brother of World Boxing Council heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko, is worried about tonight’s fight between Vitali and the tough, hard-hitting Mexican Chris Arreola (27-0, 24 KO’s). In an article at Max Boxing, Wladimir had this to say about tonight’s fight: “I’m getting pretty nervous, yeah. It’s easier for me to actually stay in the ring and be in the ring as a fighter, than to be in the corner of my brother. So it’s easier to actually fight than being in the corner.”

Has Arreola Blown his Big Chance On The Scales?

arreola-klitschko4Photo: Pavel Terekhov – By Ken Barrett: Chris Arreola took to the scales at yesterday’s weigh in at the Staples Centre, in Los Angeles, CA, officially weighing in at 251 pounds for this Saturday’s anticipated WBC heavyweight title fight. The challenger came in at only one pound lighter than his comparatively taller opponent, reigning champ, Vitali Klitschko (252 pounds). Although Arreola has shown a slight improvement in weight, it is still a worrying thought to his fans who will be hoping for Arreola to make history by becoming the first Mexican American heavyweight champion.

Can Arreola pull off an Upset against Klitschko?

arreola-klitschko454334By Jason Kim: It’s been a long time since WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko has had an opponent that could fight him on even terms. The main reason is that the heavyweight division has been so atrocious the past six years since Lennox Lewis retired in 2003. That’s left Klitschko, and his brother Wladimir, with few top level heavyweights to compete with all these years. Klitschko has done his part beating down the average opposition that has been put in with him, but most of the fights have been dull, one-sided affairs for the most part and not the type of fights that have won Klitschko many new fans.

Too ‘old’ to box

vitali4533Photo: Pavel Terekhov – By Zubair Ali: Recent fights have had me thinking that the definition of an ‘old’ fighter needs revising.

A fighter in his 30’s no longer seems to be all that old. Danny Williams, who sensationally knocked out the ferocious Mike Tyson, successfully defended his British heavyweight title against John McDermott aged 35. ‘Sugar’ Shane Mosley rolled back the years with a stunning knockout of the seemingly irrepressible Antonio Margarito.

Arreola to Make History against Klitschko

arreola7898By Dave Lahr: Unbeaten heavyweight Chris Arreola (27-0, 24 KO’s) will be looking to put the boxing world in a state of shock on September 26th, if he can pull off a major upset by beating WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko (37-2, 36 KO’s) at the Staple Center, in Los Angeles. And in beating the 38-year-old Klitschko, Arreola would become the first Mexican to win the heavyweight title. Arreola, 28, has a much better chance than a lot of people are giving him credit for. Klitschko has fought only twice in the past four years, has a history of injuries, has stamina problems and hasn’t faced a fighter like Arreola since Klitschko’s 6th round TKO defeat at the hands of Lennox Lewis in 2003.

Arreola: “I’m Already 259”

arreola564334By Chris Williams: Heavyweight contender Chris Arreola (27-0, 24 KO’s) sounds a little detached from reality when mentioning his weight in today’s presser, saying “I just checked this morning and I’m already at 259.’ Say what? That’s like saying ‘I’m only 300.’ There’s only two weeks to before his fight with WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko (37-2, 36 KO’s), and even under the best of circumstances, you can probably only drop two pounds of blubber per week.

Arreola-Klitschko: What is Chris’ Best Strategy to win?

arreola4534554By Eric Thomas: Chris Arreola (27-0, 24 KO’s) has an uphill battle to try and beat WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko on September 26th. Arreola’s weight issues are only one small part of the problem that he is facing against the big 6’7” Klitschko. However, while we’re on the subject of weight, judging by recent photos of Arreola taken at the Joe Goosen gym, I’d say that Arreola looks to be in the mid 250 pound range.

Arreola: “Right now, I weigh in the low 260s”

arreola565645
By Chris Williams: Heavyweight contender Chris Arreola (27-0, 24 KO’s) came out front and center about his weight issues yesterday at the media workout at Joe Goosen’s gym in Van Nuys, California, saying “Right now, I weigh in the low 260s.”That’s bad news for Arreola fans, because that’s roughly 30 pounds too much for him for his September 26th fight against Vitali Klitschko (37-2, 36 KO’s) at the Staples Center, in Los Angeles, California.
