Spence making mistake fighting Brook says Angel Garcia

By Scott Gilfoid: Trainer Angel Garcia says unbeaten #1 IBF Errol Spence Jr. (21-0, 18 KOs) is making a big mistake by choosing to fight the more experienced IBF welterweight champion Kell “Special K” Brook (36-1, 25 KOs) in their fight on May 27 in Sheffield, UK. Angel, the father of WBC 147lb champion Danny Garcia, feels that the 27-year-old Spence should take his time and slowly build his career before he eventually challenges for a world title.

Angel thinks it’s too early for Spence to be fighting for a world title. However, Angel’s own son Danny Garcia captured a world title five years ago when he was just 23-years-old in 2012 in beating Erik Morales.

Garcia-Thurman: Guardian Angel?

Image: Garcia-Thurman: Guardian Angel?

By Chris Miller: Ask most fighters and they will tell you “Boxing is 90% mental and 10% physical.” Nobody knows the exact ratio but for sure a huge chunk of ability is certainly housed between the ears. There is nobody who can antagonize or ignite emotion in a fighter the way trainer Angel Garcia manages to.

Good or bad, whatever your views are, he seems to be an Angel to his son WBC champion Danny ‘Swift’ Garcia, but a demon to any opponent. That opponent now is current WBA welterweight champion Keith ‘One Time’ Thurman.

Angel Garcia not happy with WBC forcing Danny G to fight Khan

Image: Angel Garcia not happy with WBC forcing Danny G to fight KhanBy Dan Ambrose: Trainer Angel Garcia is not happy with the news about the World Boxing Council ordering his son newly crowned WBC welterweight champion Danny Garcia (32-0, 18 KOs) to defend his title against WBC #1 mandatory challenger Amir Khan (31-3, 19 KOs) on or before June of this year.

Angel feels that Danny should be able to move on to bigger fights that they have their eyes on. It’s unknown what big fight Angel is eying for Danny, but it obviously something that he must feel that is a bigger fight than a rematch with Khan.

Lamont Peterson is getting stopped early if he opens up against Danny Garcia, says Angel G

garcia65By Dan Ambrose: Angel Garcia, the trainer/father for WBA/WBC light welterweight champion Danny Garcia (29-0, 17 KOs), thinks that IBF 140 pound champion Lamont Peterson (33-2-1, 17 KOs) is going to get stopped early in their fight this Saturday on April 11th if Peterson comes out swinging in their fight at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

Angel sees Danny’s punching power as being too formidable for Peterson to be able to take if he walks into the teeth of Danny’s offense in their fight on NBC on Premier Boxing Champions (PBC). The Garcia-Peterson fight will be at a catch-weight of 143 pounds, which means that Garcia will have more punching power than he’s had in his normal fights at 140.

garcia5By Meyer Lynk: Angel Garcia, aka “Mr. I would never lie to you,” aka, The Truth, aka Danny Garcia’s (26-0) father and trainer is well known for being out spoken and never holding back on saying whatever is on his mind. No matter who it offends, fighters, trainers, or fans, if Angel feels like its the truth, then hes going to say it.

We have seen him verbally assault, Kendall Holt, Amir Khan, and his most recent verbal assault that lead to a brawl, Zab Judah – just to name a few. This time he has a few things to say about the 2012 trainer of a year and former IBF champion from Oxnard, California, Robert Garcia.

Angel Garcia: Khan’s chin turns to glass when he gets hit

khan5634By Scott Gilfoid: Angel Garcia, the father of WBA/WBC light welterweight champion Danny Garcia, is still gloating about his son’s 4th round TKO victory over the previously highly hyped Amir Khan. Angel thinks Khan doesn’t have a chin and doesn’t know how to cover up properly to defend against a left hook the way he should.

Speaking with thaboxingvoice.com, Angel said “He [Danny] beat Khan and exposed him for what he was. He aint got no chin…He’s got his chin straight up in the sky where it turns into glass.”

Khan actually was already exposed by Breidis Prescott in a 1st round knockout loss in 2008, and Khan never attempted to avenge the defeat for some reason. A lot of boxing fans think Prescott has Khan’s number and would continue to knock him out each time they fought, even though Prescott has struggled against other fighters since the loss.
