However, it’s not likely to happen, as Cotto says he wants to go after only popular fighters for the big money fights and Foreman doesn’t fall into the category.

Image: Cotto-Foreman brings HBO its highest ratings of the yearBy Jim Dower: Last Saturday’s bout between Miguel Cotto and WBA junior middleweight champion Yuri Foreman brought in HBO its highest ratings of the year, bringing in a rating of 3.9 for the bout which took place at Yankee Stadium, in New York. This is somewhat of a surprise because Foreman, 29, isn’t a well known fighter outside of the New York area and has only been shown on cable a handful of times in bouts that were less than exciting.

Where are the Cotto pundits hiding now?

Image: Where are the Cotto pundits hiding now?By Johnny Barreto: For months, all I heard by these so call boxing writers was that Miguel Cotto was done as a boxer. Supposedly, Yuri Foreman was too big, too fast, too strong and slick for an old, shot and shopworn Miguel Cotto. Not only did they throw Cotto under the bus but they dared to question the heart of this true warrior. Well, Saturday was a day of vindication not only for Miguel Cotto but to all of his boxing fans too.

Pacquiao saw the Cotto-Foreman fight as even until Yuri injured his knee

Image: Pacquiao saw the Cotto-Foreman fight as even until Yuri injured his kneeBy Dave Lahr: Manny Pacquiao saw the Yuri Foreman vs. Miguel Cotto fight as an even fight up until the 29-year-old Foreman injured his right knee after slipping on the canvas in the 7th round of Saturday’s WBA junior middleweight title fight at Yankee Stadium, in New York. In an article by Ronnie Nathanielsz at the Manilastandardtoday.com, Michael Koncz, the adviser for Pacquiao, had this to say about Pacquiao’s reactions upon seeing the Cotto-Foreman fight: “[Pacquiao] Thought it was a draw and a very close fight, until Foreman got injured.” There you have it, Pacquiao saw the fight as an even fight at the time of the injury. This is exactly how I and my colleague Chris Williams saw the Cotto vs. Foreman fight.

Roy Jones Jr. does a sensational job as HBO analyst for Cotto-Foreman fight

Image: Roy Jones Jr. does a sensational job as HBO analyst for Cotto-Foreman fightBy Jason Kim: I don’t want to take anything away from former HBO boxing Analyst Lennox Lewis, but I think Roy Jones Jr. did a bang up job as a replacement analyst for Emanuel Steward on Saturday night for the Miguel Cotto vs. Yuri Foreman bout at Yankee Stadium. I especially liked how relaxed Jones Jr. was in speaking, joking around, and critiquing the fighters. This is something that Lewis had problems doing in his years with HBO. He never seemed to like saying critical things about the fighters, whereas Jones seems more than comfortable with doing it.

Has Foreman emerged as a star from his loss to Cotto?

Image: Has Foreman emerged as a star from his loss to Cotto?By Matt Stein: Strangely enough, the real star of Saturday’s fight between WBA junior middleweight champion Yuri Foreman (28-1, 8 KO’s) and Miguel Cotto (35-2, 28 KO’s) was probably Foreman, the loser of the fight, rather than Cotto. The heart that Foreman showed after injuring his right knee in the 7th round was simply incredible. Foreman, fighting on one leg, limped around the ring, firing punches in desperation to try and fight off the stronger Cotto.

Is Cotto really back or was Foreman a paper champion?

Image: Is Cotto really back or was Foreman a paper champion?By William Mackay: The boxing world is pretty much in rapture over Miguel Cotto’s 9th round TKO win over Yuri Foreman last Saturday night at Yankee Stadium. Fans, and sportswriter’s alike, are practically crowning Cotto the king of the junior middleweight division based on this one win over a fighter that injured himself in the 7th round when his right knee gave out on him. It’s easy to fall in line with the fans and sportswriters that are crowing about how good Cotto looked but you have to take a second and separate yourself from the pack and use a little critical thinking for a change.

Did anyone see Cotto’s legs go limp after getting hit with two rights from Foreman?

Image: Did anyone see Cotto's legs go limp after getting hit with two rights from Foreman?By Chris Williams: I was stunned to see Miguel Cotto’s legs turn into wet noodles after Yuri Foreman blasted Cotto with two huge right hands in the 3rd round of their fight on Saturday night. Those shots were beauntiful and Cotto’s reaction to them were worrisome to say the least. Instead of taking the shots like Foreman was doing, Cotto’s legs turned to spaghetti for a fraction of a second. Cotto then backed off to collect himself.
