Ronald “Winky” Wright says, he wants a shot at Sergio Martinez!

By Marquise Bullock: In a Williams-Martinez post fight interview by Round1 TV at Youtube.com, When 38 year old Ronald “Winky” Wright (51-5-1 25KO’s) was ask whom does he think Sergio Martinez (45-2-2 25KO’s) should fight next he replied: “Me, me, I think he should fight me. Hopefully we could do that in March or April. Paul Williams was a tall lanky dude, Martinez is more of my size, I think he’s a sharp skilled fighter, and I want to come back and prove I’m the best middleweight out there.” Wright also mentioned how he can’t make 154, and would want to fight at a full 160 pounds no catch-weight.

Sergio Martinez could fight Winky Wright if Mayweather bout doesn’t happen

By Eric Thomas: WBC/WBO middleweight champion Sergio Martinez could end up fighting 38-year-old Winky Wright (51-5-1, 25 KO’s) if a fight between Martinez and undefeated Floyd Mayweather Jr. doesn’t happen, according to Sportsillustratrated. Martinez, 35, is going to wait and see if a bout between him and Mayweather can be put together. If not, then he could be facing Wright instead. This is an okay fight, but not quite as interesting as a rematch with Paul Williams, Kermit Cintron or Kelly Pavlik.

Arum: Pavlik could fight Winky Wright or Paul Williams next – News

Image: Arum: Pavlik could fight Winky Wright or Paul Williams next – NewsBy Chris Williams: Top Rank promoter Bob Arum will be looking to match WBC/WBO middleweight champion Kelly Pavlik (36-1, 32 KO’s) against either 38-year-old fellow Top Rank fighter Winky Wright or Paul Williams next, according to an interview by Greg Leon of Boxing Talk.. Although I wouldn’t mind seeing Pavlik fight Williams, I have absolutely zero interest in watching him fight Wright. And I’m betting that’s who Arum will match Pavlik against. That would be so perfect and so fitting for the kind of dull opponents that Pavlik has been matched up against in the past. I think Wright was a good fighter in his prime, but the guy is getting old. Arum says “I really believe that Winky Wright or Paul Williams will be next.” Notice how Arum mentioned Wright first? I bet that’s because he’ll be the one facing Pavlik next.

Williams Schools Wright – Is There Anyone That Can Beat Paul?

williams44634By Matt Stein: Last night, Paul Williams (37-1, 27 KOs) showed how much better he is than the other welterweights, junior middleweights and middleweights, by defeating Winky Wright (51-5-1, 25 KOs) by a near shutout 12-round unanimous decision at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino, in Las Vegas. If you were expecting a close fight, then you were in for a disappointment because Wright was beaten every which way by Williams, who punched nearly nonstop for the full 12 rounds and never really let Wright get into the fight.
