Image: Malignaggi looks to take the WBA title from SenchenkoBy Jason Kim: Paulie Malignaggi (30-4, 6 KO’s) says he has the perfect strategy to beat WBA World welterweight champion Vyacheslav Senchenko on April 29th. Malignaggi is going to have to find a way past Senchenko’s long reach and powerful jab, because he’s not going to open up holes for Malignaggi to punch through by looking to over-commit to his punches by looking to slug with Malignaggi.

It’s difficult for me to imagine paying to see Malignaggi fight because he hasn’t fought a fought a quality opponent in two years and that was when he was easily beaten by Amir Khan by an 11th round TKO defeat in May of 2010. Malignaggi has fought three times since then, beating the following welterweights: Michael Lozada, Jose Miguel Cotto and Orlando Lora. None of them were a threat to Malignaggi and now he’s fighting on PPV after being given a high ranking of #2 by the World Boxing Association.
