Nishioka, who WBO super bantamweight champion Nonito Donaire said was the best fighter at 122, was knocked out in his last fight by Donaire in the 9th round.

Nishioka said to AFP at Newsasiaone.com “I have done what I should do. I am fully satisfied with my boxing career.”

Donaire: I need another warrior like Nishioka that comes to fight

Image: Donaire: I need another warrior like Nishioka that comes to fightBy Chris Williams: Even after defeating former WBC super bantamweight champion Toshiaki Nishioka (39-5-3 24 KO’s) by a 9th round TKO in one of HBO’s most dullest, non-action pack fights of the year, Donaire was still trying to sell Nishioka as being a good opponent by talking about how good he was.

Donaire said to ESPN after the fight “I hope I can get another warrior like Nishioka, who comes to fight.”

Donaire destroys Nishioka in sad mismatch

Image: Donaire destroys Nishioka in sad mismatchBy Chris Williams: As expected, IBF/WBO super bantamweight champion Nonito Donaire (30-1, 19 KO’s) destroyed the old veteran Toshiaki Nishioka (39-5-3, 24 KO’s) tonight by a 9th round TKO at the Home Depot Center, in Carson, California. Donaire completely dominated the fight from start to finish, knocking the 36-year-old Nishioka down in the 6th and a final time in the 9th round get the win.

After getting dropped by a right hand in the 9th, Nishioka’s corner wisely stopped it. It’s not that Nishioka was badly hurt but rather he was totally ineffective he just looked old and not willing to really fight.

Donaire destroys Nishioka; Rios stops Alvarado

Image: Donaire destroys Nishioka; Rios stops AlvaradoBy Jim Dower: In a fight that failed to live up to the high billing that Top Rank had made it to be, IBF/WBO super bantamweight champion Nonito Donaire (30-1, 19 KO’s) had an incredibly easy time beating Japan’s Toshiaki Nishioka (39-5-3, 24 KO’s) in stopping him in the 9th round on HBO on Saturday night at the Home Depot Center, in Carson, California, USA.

Nishioka, 36, never really got off with his shots, as he averaged around 20 punches thrown per round and it was not a particularly interesting fight to watch from a spectators viewpoint. If you’re a Donaire fan you were probably happy to see him win so easily but it wasn’t a good fight for boxing.

Donaire could move up in weight if he beats Nishioka tonight

Image: Donaire could move up in weight if he beats Nishioka tonight(Photo credit: Naoki Fakuda) By Chris Williams: IBF/WBO super bantamweight champion Nonito Donaire (29-1, 18 KO’s) may be moved up in weight if he beats former WBC super bantamweight champion Toshiaki Nishioka (39-4-3, 24 KO’s) tonight at the Home Depot Center, in Carson, California. The 29-year-old Donaire says he might stay at 122 if he can get big fights, but if he can’t then he’ll move up in weight to featherweight.

Donaire said to Jenna Jay in her On The Ropes Boxing Radio program at Doghouseboxing.com “If we can make the other fights happen for me, than I definitely am going to stay in this division, but if they tend to make it difficult for me than 126 is just around the corner.”

Weights: Donaire-Nishioka, Rios-Alvarado, More!

Image: Weights: Donaire-Nishioka, Rios-Alvarado, More!(Photo credit: Naoki Fakuda) By Chris Williams: IBF/WBO super bantamweight champion Nonito Donaire (29-1, 18 KO’s) easily made weight on Friday during his weigh-in for his bout on Saturday night against Toshiaki Nishioka (39-4-3, 24 KO’s) in a fight card that will be televised on HBO from the Home Depot Center, in Carson, California. Donaire, looking nervous and not as confident as usual, weighed in at 121.6 pounds. Nishioka, 36, looked much more at ease during the weigh-in, and came in at 121.8.

Donaire has been saying over and over again for anyone that’s interested in hearing him repeat himself that Nishioka is the best fighter in the entire super bantamweight division. If Donaire is actually right and not just talking to make himself look better, then he could be in for a really tough fight on Saturday night against the hard hitting Nishioka.

Big Fight predictions: Price-Harrison, Donaire-Nishioka, Klitschko-Wach, More!

Image: Big Fight predictions: Price-Harrison, Donaire-Nishioka, Klitschko-Wach, More!(Photo credit: Naoki Fakuda) By Will Jackson Jr: This is my take on how some of the big fights that have been announced will end. Opinions below please.

13th October – David Price vs Audley Harrison – David Price wins in which will be a close fight unless Audley gets caught and KO’d early. When I say it will be close I mean Price will win a lot of the rounds but the rounds will be close.

13th October – James Degale vs Hadillah Mohoumadi – Degale wins but only by around 3 rounds.

13th October – Adonis Stevenson vs Don George – Stevanson wins in a close fight by decision or the 35 year old Stevenson might gas out and get KO’d mid way through or late on in the fight by George.

14th October – Nonito Donaire vs Toshiaki Nishioka – Donaire to win in a clear decision.

Donaire still convinced that Nishioka is #1 at 122

Image: Donaire still convinced that Nishioka is #1 at 122(Photo cresdit: Naoki Fakuda) By Chris Williams: IBF/WBO super bantamweight champion Nonito Donaire (29-1, 18 KO’s) is still continuing with his mantra that former WBC super bantamweight champion Toshiaki Nishioka (39-4-3, 24 KO’s) is the top fighter at super bantamweight as he heads into his fight with him on Saturday night at the Home Depot Center, in Carson, California.

Donaire sees Nishioka as #1 and thinks he’s going to get credit for beating him from the casual boxing fans who tune into HBO on Saturday night. Donaire fails to see that Nishioka is no longer a world champion. He gave up his WBC title and is just the Ring magazine champion, which is one of those subjective things where they’re voted by a small handful of guys.

Donaire: Nishioka is more dangerous than Rigondeaux

Image: Donaire: Nishioka is more dangerous than RigondeauxBy Chris Williams: IBF/WBO super bantamweight champion Nonito Donaire (29-1, 18 KO’s) is convinced that his opponent this Saturday 36-year-old former super bantamweight champion Toshiaki Nishioka (39-4-3, 24 KO’s) is the most dangerous fighter at super bantamweight, even better than WBA World super bantamweight champion Guillermo Rigondeaux. I’m pretty sure boxing fans aren’t buying this, because Nishioka has looked awful recently, more like a fading contender than a former champion.

Donaire told Fighthub.tv “I think the most dangerous guy is right behind me, Nishioka. He has more power and he knows how to fight. He’s been in the game a long time and he’s a very dangerous guy.”

Donaire vs. Nishioka: Nonito needs to impress so Top Rank can move him up

Image: Donaire vs. Nishioka: Nonito needs to impress so Top Rank can move him upBy Chris Williams: Top Rank is hoping that their fighter IBF/WBO super bantamweight champion Nonito Donaire (29-1, 18 KO’s) can look good in beating 36-year-old past his best Toshiaki Nishioka (39-4-3, 24 KO’s) this Saturday night at the Home Depot Center, Carson, California.

The idea here is for Donaire to look impressive in blowing out a fighter that was at one the best fighter at super bantamweight but who clearly isn’t anymore, at least in the eyes of the boxing experts. Donaire needs to impress so that Top Rank can quickly move him up to the now weakened featherweight division where Donaire will likely be able to pick up one of the featherweight titles against one of the fighters not by the name of Orlando Salido. Believe me, Top Rank won’t put Donaire in with Salido, not if they know what’s good for them.
