Terence Crawford ready to beat Pacquiao

crawford5By Chris Williams: WBO light welterweight champion Terence Crawford (27-0, 19 KOs) is waiting for the word about whether he’s going to get the fight against Manny Pacquiao (57-6-2, 38 KOs) for April 9th next year.

Crawford’s manager Brian Macintyre is looking forward to the fight because he feels that his guy will definitely beat the soon to be 37-year-old Pacquiao. 83-year-old Bob Arum, who promotes both Pacquiao and Crawford, refuses to say who he wants Pacquiao to fight for his April bout, but with the way that Arum’s face lights up each time he mentioned Crawford’s name, you have to wonder if that’s the guy he’s hoping Pacquiao will select.

Crawford not sure if Golovkin is for real

Boxing: Golovkin vs LemieuxBy Tim Fletcher: WBO light welterweight champion Terence Crawford says he doesn’t know if IBF/IBO/WBA middleweight champion Gennady “Triple G” Golovkin (34-0, 31 KOs) is the real deal or not at this point, because he’s not been fighting guys that are hitting him back and trying to win.

Crawford notes that Golovkin has punching power, and he thinks he’s got good boxing skills. However, Crawford doesn’t know if he’s a legitimate talent or not because he’s been fighting too many guys that he was able to steamroll over without any problems.

Crawford: Tim Bradley beats Canelo

bradley000By Dan Ambrose: WBO welterweight champion Tim Bradley’s 9th round knockout win over a bloated and out of shape 170lb Brandon Rios (33-3-1, 24 KOs) last Saturday night has convinced WBO 140lb champion Terence Crawford that Bradley would beat former WBA/WBC 154lb champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez if he winds up as his next opponent he faces in 2016.

Bradley’s promoter Bob Arum has already mentioned that the 25-year-old Canelo is a possibility for Bradley if Canelo defeats WBC middleweight champion Miguel Cotto (40-4, 33 KOs) in their fight on November 21st this month in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Pacquiao to pick from Bradley, Khan and Crawford, says Arum

1-008_Manny_PacquiaoBy Chris Williams: Top Rank promoter Bob Arum says that Manny Pacquiao will sit down and watch video of Tim Bradley’s fight against Brandon Rios, as well as recent fights from Amir Khan and Terence Crawford to make a selection of which fighter he would like to face next in what could be the final fight of Pacquiao’s career on April 9th.

Arum isn’t saying who he personally wants Pacquiao’s to fight next, but some boxing fans think that Arum wants/needs Pacquiao tight Crawford in order to increase his value to his Top Rank stable in the same way that Rios’ value was increased after his fight against Pacquiao two years ago.

Pacquiao says he has 4 fighters he’s looking at for final fight

1-Pacquiao_Mayweather_150429_008aBy Allan Fox: While Top Rank promoter Bob Arum is mentioning only three potential candidates for Manny Pacquiao’s final fight of his career in April of next year, Pacquiao is saying that he’s looking at four different guys.

Pacquiao says that Tim Bradley, Amir Khan, Danny Garcia and Terence Crawford are among his four potential opponents. For his part, Arum’s list only includes Crawford, Khan and Bradley. Supposedly, Pacquiao is the one that makes the decisions when it comes to who he fights.

Roach wants Pacquiao to fight Crawford next

roach467By Chris Williams: Trainer Freddie Roach says he’d leaning in the direction of hoping that Manny Pacquiao (57-6-2, 38 KOs) faces WBO light welterweight champion Terence Crawford (27-0, 19 KOs) in his next and perhaps final fight of his career on April 9th next year.

Roach previously said that he wanted Pacquiao to fight former WBA/WBC light welterweight champion Danny Garcia next year, because he liked the idea of Pacquiao fighting a brawler. But in choosing Crawford, Roach is now interested in having Pacquiao fight a counter puncher.

Pacquiao is too dangerous for Crawford, says Robert Garcia

Image: Pacquiao is too dangerous for Crawford, says Robert GarciaBy Dan Ambrose: Trainer Robert Garcia is in agreement with Top Rank promoter Bob Arum in feeling that WBO light welterweight champion Terence Crawford (27-0, 19 KOs) is an ideal opponent for former eight division world champion Manny Pacquiao (57-6-2, 38 KOs) to finish his long 20-year pro career against next year on April 9th.

However, Garcia believes that Pacquiao still has too much left in the tank for the 28-year-old Crawford to deal with, and he thinks it would be a very risky fight for Crawford to take.

Arum: Pacquiao’s next opponent could be Khan or Crawford

arum33By Tim Fletcher:
Top Rank promoter Bob Arum appears to have whittled down the list of potential opponents for Manny Pacquiao’s next fight in April from three to two. The 83-year-old Arum previously listed Tim Bradley among the three possible options for Pacquiao’s last fight of his career on April 9th. But with Arum not mentioning Bradley now, it’s possible that he’s removed him from the list if he was ever seriously on the list to begin with.

It’s hard to imagine that Arum would try and ask the boxing public to pay to see a third fight between Pacquiao and Bradley when their second one last year was a mismatch with Pacquiao easily winning a 12 round decision.

Terence Crawford won’t fight Tim Bradley

crawford6By Chris Williams: While Top Rank promoter Bob Arum is reportedly interested in potentially matching WBO light welterweight champion Terence Crawford (27-0, 19 KOs) against Manny Pacquiao or Brandon Rios in his next fight, WBO welterweight champion Tim Bradley (32-1-1, 12 KOs) is not in the picture for the 28-year-old Crawford.

According to Dan Rafael, Crawford and Bradley are “good buddies and Crawford told me he would not fight him.” That’s unfortunate, because Crawford’s options are extremely limited once Pacquiao retires from the sport.

Mikey Garcia says he’ll face Crawford if Top Rank lets him walk away

garcia7867By Dan Ambrose: Former two division world champion Mikey Garcia (34-0, 28 KOs) says he’ll gladly face WBO light welterweight champion Terence Crawford (27-0, 19 KOs) next if his promoter Bob Arum of Top Rank will let him end his contract and walk away from the company so that he can look in another direction with his career.

Garcia, 28, hasn’t fought since January of 2014 in beating Juan Carlos Burgos by a 12 round decision. Since then, Garcia hasn’t fought since then due to him having promotional problems with Top Rank. Garcia wants to move on and Top Rank doesn’t appear to be interested in letting him. It’s unclear whether Garcia will sacrifice his career this way or if he’ll eventually give in and continue the remainder of his contract with Top Rank.
