By Chris Williams: In Floyd Mayweather’s recent interview with HBO analyst Jim Lampley, Mayweather spoke of his love for boxing and that he wanted to a fight that made “business sense” for him.
Shane Mosley
If Not Mosley, Who Will Mayweather Be Fighting Next?
By Chris Williams: Judging from recent comments made by Floyd Mayweather Jr., it appears now that he won’t be facing Shane Mosley next or maybe not at all, period. This leaves me to wonder who Mayweather will be besides the obvious, Manny Pacquiao. That’s a fight that many boxing fans want to see but it might not be possible to negotiate because of the egos of the two fighters involved. Mayweather will want the bigger split of the purse, and so will Pacquiao.
Golden Boy Pushing for Mosley vs. Mayweather
By Jason Kim: Golden Boy Promotions are trying hard to line up a fight between WBA welterweight champion Shane Mosley and Floyd Mayweather Jr. At 38, Mosley is nearing the end of his career and a fight against Mayweather would be a great way for Mosley to put a topping on his excellent career.
Cotto Underrated, Mosley Overrated, and Other Welterweight Truths
By David Berry: Mayweather vs. Mosley? Mayweather vs. Pacquiao? Who knows? The return of Floyd Mayweather Jr. to the world of boxing has once again shaken up an already volatile welterweight division. Mayweather didn’t even make it out of his post-fight interview without the suddenly desperate Shane Mosley challenging him yet again to make him his next opponent. Of course, having Mosley as Mayweather’s next opponent has merit to it, but it also comes as an affront to those clamoring for a match-up between Mayweather and the fighter who inherited his pound-for-pound throne, Manny Pacquiao.
Mosley: “I think Floyd’s a Little Intimidated and Afraid of Me”
By Chris Williams: Shane Mosley had less than positive things to say about Floyd Mayweather Jr. in a recent interview at Fight Hype, saying among other things, “I think Floyd’s a little intimidated and afraid of me.” Mosley is talking about how Mayweather suddenly froze up an old engine block when Mosley walked up on Max Kellerman and Mayweather following Floyd’s 12 round victory over lightweight Juan Manuel Marquez last Saturday night.
Who Should Mayweather fight First: Pacquiao or Mosley?
By Sean McDaniel: Floyd Mayweather Jr’s impressive 12 round unanimous decision last Saturday night over Juan Manuel Marquez may have done enough to reestablish the 32-year-old Mayweather as boxing’s number #1 pound for pound fighter in the sport. The fight was so one-sided that it because somewhat boring to watch after the first few rounds because Mayweather was far too fast and superior defensively for the slower and smaller Marquez to handle.
Could We Be Seeing Mayweather-Mosley Next?
By Jason Kim: Although Floyd Mayweather Jr. clearly wants a fight against Manny Pacquiao in the near future, the negotiations between Mayweather and Pacquiao might make the fight un-doable at this time. Mayweather reportedly wants more than a 50-50 deal, and Pacquiao and his team will likely want nothing less than 50% of the purse split.
Mosley-Clottey Not Likely to Take Place on December 26th
By Jason Kim: It seems that the bout between WBA Shane Mosley (46-5, 39 KO’s) and former International Boxing Federation welterweight champion Joshua Clottey (35-3, 20 KO’s) won’t be taking place on December 26th, like it was originally thought it would be. The problem, according to the LA Times, is that HBO doesn’t want the fight to take place on December 26th, the reason being that it’s the day after Christmas.
Clottey-Mosley: “I Will Win” – Joshua
By Jason Kim: Welterweight contender Joshua Clottey (35-3, 20 KO’s) is confident about his chances to beat World Boxing Association welterweight champion Shane Mosley (46-5, 39 KO’s) and take his title away from him on December 26th at the Staples Center, in Los Angeles, California.
Mosley vs. Clottey: Not the Fight that Shane Wanted
By Jason Kim: Last night, it was learned that WBA welterweight champion Shane Mosley (46-5, 39 KO’s) would be defending his title against Joshua Clottey (35-3, 20 KO’s) on December 26th, at the Staples Center, in Los Angeles, California. Although this isn’t the fight that Mosley, 37, wanted to get, it’s still great news that Shane is fighting an opponent is excellent as Clottey, who is one of the top five fighters in the welterweight division at this point in time.
