Sakio Bika likes his chances against Adonis Stevenson

stevenson22By Allan Fox: After a disappointing loss to Anthony Dirrell last year in August 2014, former WBC super middleweight champion Sakio Bika (36-6-3, 21 KOs) likes his chances of beating 37-year-old WBC light heavyweight champion Adonis Stevenson (25-1, 21 KOs) on Aril 4th at the Pepsi Coliseum in Quebec City, Quebec, Canada.

Bika has obviously been picked out by Stevenson’s management because they believe that Stevenson can bet the aggressive Bika. However, Bika has the punching power and fighting style to potentially give Stevenson a great deal of problems if he can get inside on him and keep the fight in close where Stevenson isn’t as skilled.

Dirrell awaits Groves-Rebrasse winner for first title defense

Anthony Dirrell vs Sakio Bika(Photo credit: Esther Lin/Showtime) By Scott Gilfoid: Anthony Dirrell (27-0-1, 22 KOs) put on a master-class performance last night in defeating WBC super middleweight champion Sakio Bika (32-6-3, 21 KOs) by a 12 round unanimous decision to win the WBC 168 pound title at the StubHub Center in Carson, California.

For Dirrell, this was his second fight against Bika, as he’d fought to a 12 round draw against him last December in a fight that Dirrell opted to sit on the ropes for much of the fight. But in the rematch last night, Dirrell stayed in the center of the ring and boxed his way to a 12 round decision.

Dirrell to Bika: You’re getting knocked out

YouTube video
By Scott Gilfoid: In what promises to be the best fight on tonight’s StubHub card in Carson, California, unbeaten #6 WBC Anthony Dirrell (26-0-1, 22 KOs) will be looking to take a scalp tonight when he faces WBC super middleweight champion Sakio Bika (32-5-3, 21 KOs) in the co-feature bout.

At Friday’s weigh-in, Dirrell and Bika exchanged harsh words when facing off, and then later when Bika was being interviewed. Bika was telling Showtime that he hopes Dirrell doesn’t run from him during the fight. Dirrell then cut into the interview, saying “Who ran from you? I didn’t run from you. I knocked you down clean. You’re getting knocked out.” Bika then said “Good, now shut up.” Dirrell then said “Why don’t shut up.” It went back and forth like this for a while until Dirrell got bored and walked away. But he got his message across in telling Bika that he plans on stopping him and taking his strap from him.

Porter weighed in at 146.75 pounds.

Porter said “I need a great performance here and that’s what I expect from myself.”

Dirrell to show his stuff against Bika

Anthony DirrellBy Scott Gilfoid: #6 WBC Anthony Dirrell (26-0-1, 22 KOs) will be looking to show that he belongs at the very top of the super middleweight division on Saturday night when he faces the rough and tumble WBC 168 pound champion Sakio Bika (32-5-3, 21 KOs) in their second and one would hope their last fight.

They faced each other last December in a fight that was really impossible to pick a winner in. I had Dirrell up by a couple of points, but I could see how the judges might have seen it as a draw.

Dirrell only has himself to blame for the fight turning out to be a tougher one than it should have been. Had he used his boxing skills to dominate Bika, he likely would have won without being touched.

Groves wants Dirrell to beat Bika; prefers fighting him

YouTube video
By Scott Gilfoid: Former two time world title challenger George Groves (19-2, 15 KOs) is hoping #6 WBC Anthony Dirrell (26-0-1, 22 KOs) will beat WBC super middleweight champion Sakio Bika (32-5-3, 21 KOs) in their rematch this Saturday at the StubHub Center in Carson, California.

Groves likes the idea of fighting the well-known Dirrell, and he thinks it’ll be an interesting fight between them. Of course, Groves may never get the chance of fighting Dirrell or Bika unless he gets past #2 WBC Christopher Rebrasse in their WBC super middleweight title eliminator bout on September 20th.

Bika: I don’t want to chase Dirrell

dirrell23134By Scott Gilfoid: WBC super middleweight champion Sakio Bika (32-5-3, 21 KOs) seems to realize that he’s going to be facing a much different Anthony Dirrell (26-0-1, 22 KOs) this Saturday night than the last one he faced last December at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

In that fight, Dirrell fought pretty much the same way Floyd Mayweather Jr did in his last fight against Marcos Maidana by standing directly in front of him. Dirrell made it hard for himself by staying stationary against a fighter as rough and as tough as Bika with his physical style of fighting.
