By Scott Gilfoid: WBO middleweight champion Andy Lee (34-2, 24 KOs) will be making his toughest fight in quite some time when he defends his WBO strap this Saturday night against the speedy fast and very powerful unbeaten Peter Quillin (31-0, 22 KOs) at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
Lee has a tough task ahead of him against Quillin because the American fighter can both slug and box. He’s equally talented in both areas, so he can kind of pick and choose how he wants to deal with the 6’2” Lee.
Lee, 30, says he’d like to defend his title three times successfully and then retire from boxing as one of the great ones. Unfortunately if Lee only defends his WBO title three times, he’s hardly going to be remembered as a great one. Beating Quillin definitely won’t be a big enough win to make Lee great.
