By Jason Kim: Trainer Freddie Roach doesn’t want his fighter WBC middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr (43-0-1, 30 KO’s) to take a September fight against the likes of Ronald Hearns and David Medina. Instead, Roach wants Chavez Jr to skip fighting in September and wait until his November 19th fight date against No.5 World Boxing Council ranked middleweight contender Peter Manfredo Jr (37-6, 20 KO’s) in a fight that’s scheduled to take place at the Reliant Arena in Houston, Texas.

Chavez Jr. vs. Manfredo Jr. a possibility for September 24 at the Alamodome
By Dan Ambrose: With Darren Barker deciding to take on an arguably much better fighter in Sergio Martinez, WBC middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr’s options have narrowed to that of Peter Manfredo Jr. (37-6, 20 Ko’s) for a bout that will be taking place on September 24th. The Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas is the venue that the fight will reportedly be taking place at. Besides Manfredo, Chavez Jr. could also end up facing either Giovanni Lorenzo or Nobuhiro Ishida.

Sergio Martinez vs. Peter Manfredo Jr. in July
by Chris Williams: The indications are strong that Sergio Martinez (47-2-2, 26 KO’s) will be fighting Peter Manfredo Jr. (37-6, 20 KO’s) next in July instead of a high profile opponent or one that can give him any kind of fight. Martinez and Manfredo Jr. share the same promoter and the talk is that he wants to have an in house fight between them, as long as HBO goes along with this fight and agrees to purchase it.
Sergio Martinez vs. Peter Manfredo Jr. a strong possibility for July
By Michael Lieberman: If HBO is willing to purchase this fight, we could be seeing an in house fight between two Lou Dibella fighters in July between WBC middleweight Emeritus champion Sergio Martinez (47-2-2, 26 KO’s) and Peter Manfredo Jr. (37-6, 20 KO’s), a former contestant from the reality television series “The Contender.” It’s kind of hard to see HBO saying yes to this mismatch because they wanted no part in seeing what would have likely been a better match-up between Sebastian Zbik and Martinez recently and opted for the Sergiy Dzinziruk vs. Martinez fight instead.
Sergio Martinez could fight Manfredo Jr. in July
By Dan Ambrose: WBC Emeritus middleweight champion Sergio Martinez wants to fight Floyd Mayweather Jr., Miguel Cotto or Manny Pacquiao next. He’s not going to get any of those fighters next, and probably never for that matter. What the 36-year-old Martinez may have to settle for is middleweight contender Peter Manfredo Jr. (37-6, 20 KO’s) on July 9th. According to the latest boxing news, Martinez’s promoter is hoping to match Martinez up with the 30-year-old Manfredo Jr. next if HBO will go along with the idea.
