While the 31-year-old Montiel was stopped on his feet by referee Russell Mora at 2:25 of the 2nd round, it was the knockdown that Donaire landed in the 2nd round that has boxing fans talking and wondering how Montiel was able to get back to his feet after such a huge blow.

Montiel was tagged with a huge left hook by Donaire after Montiel had landed a glancing right hand. The left hook from Donaire whip-lashed Montiel’s head, sending him down on the canvas on his back.

These are my thoughts as well. Montiel, 31, has a huge fight tomorrow night against Nonito Donaire (25-1, 17 KO’s) at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Donaire is the favorite in this fight but Lederman disagrees with that, saying this should be considered an even fight. Boxing fans are going to get a real treat in watching the huge punching Montiel work on Saturday.
