By Matt Stein: On Saturday night, WBA heavyweight champion Nikolay Valuev (50-1, 34 KOs) will meet up with Ruslan Chagaev (25-0-1, 17 KOs), the champion in recess, to iron out who the real heavyweight champion is in the World Boxing Association, as if anyone really cares.

By Matt Stein: 7-foot World Boxing Association heavyweight champion Nikolay Valuev (50-1, 34 KOs) is looking forward to his May 30th title bout against WBA heavyweight champion in recess Ruslan Chagaev (25-0-1, 17 KOs) in their revenge match at the Hartwall Arena, in Helsinki, Finland. Valuev vs. Chagaev on May 30th – News

valuev32By Eric Thomas: Two long years after losing his World Boxing Association (WBA) heavyweight title to Ruslan Chagaev (25-0-1, 17 KOs) in April 2007 by a 12-round majority decision, seven-foot 320 pound Russian Nikolay Valuev (50-1, 34 KOs) will try to see revenge when he fights Chagaev again for the WBA title on May 30th, in Helsinki, Finland. The bout, hardly interesting to begin with, has lost any little appeal that it ever had as the stock of both Chagaev and Valuev has gone down since then.

The State of the Heavyweight Division – Boxing

wladimir56447By Adam Fillingham: I think everyone will agree when I say this, the heavyweight division is currently the worst division in boxing. It comes to something when seven out of ten people in Great Britain can’t name the heavyweight champion of the world. Now I don’t think Nikolay Valuev is the most memorable name but he is the WBA heavyweight champion of the world.

To prove my point even further just look at the top five heavyweights in the world:

News: Valuev Tires of Waiting For Chagaev, Wants Optional Defense

vaqluev3343By Eric Thomas: World Boxing Association (WBA) heavyweight champion Nikolay Valuev (50-1, 34 KOs) has tired of waiting for Ruslan Chagaev, the WBA champion in recess, to fight him and will now be seeking out a voluntary defense until the WBA assists Valuev in getting a match with Chagaev. Valuev, 35, has been seeking out a rematch with Chagaev, 30, who defeated him by a questionable 12-round majority decision in April 2007, hasn’t had any luck in getting Chagaev in the ring.

Vitali Wants Bout With Valuev – News

vit43453234By Jason Kim: WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko (37-2, 36 KOs) wants a shot at WBA heavyweight title holder Nikolay Valuev now. Klitschko, 37, stopped challenger Juan Carlos Gomez (44-2, 35 KOs) in the 9th round on Saturday night in Stuttgart, Germany. Vitali looked sluggish, missing shots, gasping for breath and struggling with the awkward style of Gomez until finally solving it in the 7th round when Vitali was able to temporarily put him down with a hard right hand to the head.

Valuev Prepared To Fight Both Klitschko Brothers

valuev73557By Eric Thomas: Despite what the Klitschko brothers are saying about World Boxing Association heavyweight champion Nikolay Valuev not wanting to fight him, Valuev’s promoter Wilfried Sauerland begs to differ, saying that they’ve not been approached by the Klitschko brothers with a serious offer by them nor have them had contact in them in a year.

The Klitschko Brothers Need To Forget Valuev and Fight Each Other

wladimir422By Scott Gilfoid: In an article today, World Boxing Council heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko and his brother Wladimir, who holds both the IBF and WBO belts, complained that WBA title holder Nikolay Valuev’s promoters are preventing him from facing them, despite Valuev himself wanting the fight. However, it’s hard not to see why the promoters wouldn’t want the brothers to fight Valuev, because each of the would very likely knock Valuev out and grab his WBA title long with it.
