DeGale picking Froch to beat Kessler on May 25th

froch33By Scott Gilfoid: WBC Silver super middleweight champion James DeGale believes IBF super middleweight champion Carl Froch (30-2, 22 KO’s) has what it takes to get past WBA World super middleweight champion Mikkel Kessler (46-2, 35 KO’s) in their rematch on May 25th at the O2 Arena in London, England.

DeGale said “I fancy Froch. He’s going to come through and win.”

I wish I could agree with DeGale, I really so, but I happened to have seen their previous fight and it was pretty clear that Kessler was the more talented fighter. Kessler has the better hand speed, better power, better technique and got the better of Froch in the exchanges.

Kessler-Froch 2: Mikkel has the talent to win this

kessler342334By Steven Ocallaghan: On the 25th May at the O2 Arena in London, arguably the biggest fight of the year takes place between 2 of the most exciting fighters of the last decade. IF super middleweight champion Carl Froch gets his long awaited rematch with one of only 2 guys to have beaten him, Mikkel Kessler. The first fight between these to warriors was a classic, just two guys completely letting go. A fight that could have went either way, I thought Kessler had done enough.

I think that fight had a wee change in strategy for Froch, because after that close battle he upped his work rate, which I think lost him the Kessler fight. Remember he was losing to Jermain Taylor until he got the 12th round KO. When it came to the Ward fight, he couldn’t figure Ward out, constantly getting tied up. Possibly a closer fight than many thought because I think when the scorecards were read out and two judges had it by only 2 rounds, many thought it was by at least 4.

Froch vs. Kessler: Carl about to make the same mistake as last time

froch6By Scott Gilfoid: If you’ve listened to some of the comments from IBF super middleweight champion Carl Froch in describing what he intends on doing against WBA super middleweight champion Mikkel Kessler in their rematch on May 25th, it becomes clear that Froch is going to try and out-brawl Kessler by fighting even harder than last time they fought back in April 2010.

Froch seems to think he can whip Kessler by throwing more combinations than last time. Froch’s grand plan for beating Kessler is by throwing 6-six punch combinations each time he lets his hands go. In other words, Froch will be throwing flurries after flurries, hoping for the best.

Froch: I’m going to beat Kessler

froch9By Scott Gilfoid: IBF super middleweight champion Carl Froch (30-2, 22 KO’s) plans on throwing away any idea of using boxing tactics in his rematch against WBA super middleweight champion Mikkel Kessler (46-2, 35 KO’s) in their rematch on May 25th.

Froch believes the best way to beat Kessler is to go right at him and turn it into a war like he did in stopping former IBF super middleweight champion Lucian Bute last May in Nottingham, England.

Froch said to thesun.co.uk “It can only go one way…Carl Froch will win. As soon as I get in there, I’m going to pick up with round 13 where I left off with round 12 in Denmark. It’s a case of standing in range.

Kessler: I want Froch to admit I beat him last time

kessler2By Scott Gilfoid: WBA super middleweight champion Mikkel Kessler (46-2, 35 KO’s) doesn’t like the fact that IBF super middleweight champion Carl Froch (30-2, 22 KO’s) made excuses after he got whipped by him three years ago in Herning, Denmark.

Froch lost the fight to Kessler by a clear cut 12 round unanimous decision, but then afterwards he blamed the defeat in part on an ash cloud that slowed his progress to Denmark. Kessler didn’t like the excuses and saw Froch as just someone that couldn’t come to terms with the fact that he got beat by the better fighter.

Kessler said “I want him to admit I won the fight because I thought so.”

Carl Froch to have his finest hour against Mikkel Kessler

1CphBy Mark Havey: May 25th will be a date most fans will certainly have made a mental note of. Carl Froch will be stepping in the ring in a bid to avenge his first career defeat against Mikkel Kessler. Both men like battle, not with tactics, but with audacious courage and ferocity.

The fight is very likely to be shown on PPV which Britain won’t be happy about. But I’m sure no one will be complaining after the fight. Value for money is stamped all over this fight. Skill shouldn’t be something you should be expecting in this fight. Froch and Kessler don’t like to out think their opponents, they prefer to out fight them.

Kessler may have to really dominate Froch to win on May 25th

2CphBy Scott Gilfoid: I hope WBA super middleweight champion Mikkel Kessler (46-2, 35 KO’s) knows what he’s gotten himself into by agreeing to fight IBF super middleweight champion Carl Froch (30-2, 22 KO’s) in the UK at the O2 Arena in London, England.

If we learned anything from watching the talented Andre Dirrell attempt to win a fight against Froch in the UK, we saw that you a visiting fighter may have to go beyond the norm to escape with a win. Dirrell dominated the first five rounds of that fight, and then thrown on the canvas by Froch in front of the referee without points being taken away.

Sauerland: Froch-Kessler2 almost a sellout

1Cph(Photo credit: Team Sauerland) By Scott Gilfoid: Kalle Sauerland, the promoter for WBA super middleweight champion Mikkel Kessler, is proud to say Kessler’s May 25th rematch against IBF super middleweight champion Carl Froch at the O2 Arena in London, England, is almost a sellout with 15,000 tickets sold after a little over one day. The venue holds 17,000, so it’s going to be sold out soon, if not today.

Sauerland said “We sold 15,000 tickets on the first day and we’re virtually sold out. The interest has been huge, but that’s not surprise given the dramatic first fight.”

Yeah, I find it incredibly odd the high interest in the Froch-Kessler rematch because both of these guys were easily beaten Andre Ward in the past. As a fan, I’d have lost interest completely in seeing Kessler and Froch fight again because the fight is like a consolation bracket of fighters that are second best.

Froch: It could be over for me if I lose to Kessler

froch92By Scott Gilfoid: IBF super middleweight champion Carl Froch thinks it could potentially be the end of his career if he gets badly beaten by WBA super middleweight champion Mikkel Kessler in their important fight on May 25th in the 17,000 seat O2 Arena in London, UK.

Froch has his doubts about whether he or Kessler could come back from a loss in this fight, and he’s probably right. A big loss for Froch or Kessler will send them back to a contender status and likely cause a lot of boxing fans to lose interest in them.

Froch said to thesun.co.uk “I think it’s the end for the loser. Depending on how the fight goes, I don’t think Kessler would come back after a loss — and I am pretty sure that I wouldn’t either.

Kessler: I’m ready to beat Froch again; he’s in trouble

kessler34545By Scott Gilfoid: WBA super middleweight champion Mikkel Kessler (46-2, 35 KO’s) is ready to beat IBF super middleweight champion Carl Froch (30-2, 22 KO’s) for a second final time when they face each other in a rematch on May 25th at the O2 Arena in London, England.

Kessler knows he’s got the better boxing skills and talent, so he’s just going to repeat the beating that he gave to Froch three years ago in Hern, Denmark in April, 2010. Froch has been bellyaching for ages about wanting a rematch with Kessler specifically in the UK, and Kessler was class enough to give Froch his wish by saying yes to the fight in the UK, as if it really matters where the fight takes place.
