By Scott Gilfoid: In some disappointing news, unbeaten welterweight champion Kell Brook (26-0, 18 KO’s) is reportedly in negotiations with fringe welterweight contender Matthew Hatton (42-5-2, 16 KO’s) for a fight that will take place in early 2012. If the fight comes off this will be a continuation of the disturbing trend for the for the 25-year-old Brook to be matched against soft competition rather than serious threats that can teach him something that he’ll need to know when the day comes for Brook to finally fight someone with ability.

By Scott Gilfoid: I’ve studied many of challenger Ryan Rhodes’ fights in the past three years and I’ve come to the conclusion that he’s going to get beaten like an old rug on June 18th when he steps up a couple of levels to face WBC junior middleweight champion Saul Alvarez (31-0-1, 26 KO’s) at the Arena VFG, Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico. To me, Rhodes looks like a slightly more mobile version of Matthew Hatton.
