Before then, he plans on fighting this Saturday of course against Marcos Maidana, and the next May before wrapping his 19-year pro career up in September presumably on the Mexican Independence Day holiday.

Mayweather’s 154lb titles won’t be on line for Maidana fight

floyd58544By Chris Williams: Unbeaten boxing superstar Floyd Mayweather Jr (46-0, 26 KOs) will have his WBA/WBC 147 welterweight titles up for grabs for his fight this Saturday against Marcos Maidana (35-4, 31 KOs), but not his WBA/WBC junior middleweight titles, according to Fighthype.com.

There was talk of Mawyeather having both his 147 and 154 pound titles on the line for the Maidana fight so that all the titles could be defended at the same time, but Mayweather didn’t like the idea of defending his 154 pound titles in that manner.

Rubio confident Maidana will beat Mayweather

YouTube video
By Chris Williams: WBC interim middleweight champion Marco Antonio Rubio is picking former two division world champion Marcos Maidana (35-4, 31 KOs) to defeat WBA/WBC 147lb champion Floyd Mayweather Jr (46-0, 26 KOs) this Saturday night in their rematch on Showtime pay-per-view from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada. The Mayweather-Maidana 2 fight goes for $64.95 on PPV for boxing fans who still haven’t ordered it.

Rubio believes that Maidana’s aggressive fighting style is going to give Mayweather problems in this fight, especially with the way that he attacks by throwing punches everywhere. Rubio sees this as Maidana’s best chance of beating Mayweather on Saturday.

Mayweather: Maidana will do what he does best – be an extremely dirty fighter

maidana888By Chris Williams: In this Saturday’s Showtime pay-per-view rematch between WBA/WBC welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr (46-0, 26 KOs) and Marcos Maidana (35-4, 31 KOs), Mayweather says he expects Maidana to come out and foul and be a dirty fighter when they get inside the ring at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Mayweather says he’s just going to need to stay calm and use his intelligence to box Maidana and minimize the things that he attempts to do.

The referee for the fight is Kenny Bayless and he’s got a track record of not putting up with too much fouling without him putting his foot down and taking control of the fight. Bayless is going to be tested in this fight just as referee Tony Weeks was tested last May in the original Mayweather-Maidana fight.

Who has Mayweather ducked really?

floydBy Gav Duthie: Everyone has an opinion on why Floyd Mayweather Jr and Manny Pacquiao have not yet fought. It would be ignorant of me to try and convince anyone either way who is to blame as most are on one side or another and that won’t change.

If you blame Mayweather that’s fine, no problem, what I don’t like is the throw away comments about him ducking this or cherry picking that. With the exception of Pacquiao is there anyone else he should have fought in the past but didn’t? I thought I would have a proper look back at his career and assess the situation.

Mayweather: Maidana’s not at my level

floyd5By Chris Williams: WBA/WBC welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr (46-0, 26 KOs) reminded boxing fans and Marcos Maidana (35-4, 31 KOs) last night that Maidana isn’t on the same level as him and he’s going to be taking a considerable step up in class when the two fighters meet in the center of the ring on Saturday, September 13th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Mayweather respects Maidana 100 percent as a fighter and believes he’s a competent guy who would give anyone in the division problems at 147. But Mayweather doesn’t see Maidana as being an A level fighter like himself. He seems Maidana as strictly as a B level guy making a big jump up in competition, and like most B-level fighters that face Mayweather, Maidana is going to have some problems.

Showtime: All Access Mayweather vs Maidana 2 Full Episode 2

YouTube video
By Chris Williams: Here is last Saturday night’s Showtime All Access: Mayweather vs. Maidana 2 episode 2. The episode showed some of what I feel is some edginess on the part of Marcos Maidana (35-4, 31 KOs) as the fight date comes closer for his rematch with WBA/WBC welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr (46-0, 26 KOs) at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Maidana: This time I hope I hurt Mayweather

maidana44444By Chris Williams: Marcos Maidana (35-4, 31 KOs) showed moments of self-doubt last Saturday night in episode 2 of All Access: Mayweather vs. Maidana 2 on Showtime. Maidana had a conversation with his trainer Robert Garcia’s dad in which Maidana wasn’t sure if he fought the right fight the last time he battled Floyd Mayweather Jr (46-0, 26 KOs) last May.

Maidana seemed to be looking for validation from Garcia’s dad for the way he fought. At the end of the conversation, Maidana said that he wants to hurt Mayweather this time. Maidana seemed like he was in a trance-like state when he made the comment, and you could see how much this fight means to him in their rematch on September 13th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.
