Roach Doesn’t Want Khan to Fight Pacquiao – News

roach3423By Chris Williams: Freddie Roach, the trainer for both Amir Khan and Manny Pacquiao, says he doesn’t want the two fighters ever to meet in the ring, according to the Daily Star. Roach points to Khan and Pacquiao’s close friendship as the reason why Roach wants to try and keep the two from ever fighting. Although it’s ultimately up to Pacquiao and Khan, since after all Roach is nothing more than a trainer, but Pacquiao looks up to Roach and follows what he says to the letter.

Pacquiao Wins, but Hatton Remains the More Exciting Fighter

By Manuel Perez: Sometimes it doesn’t matter when a fighter loses, because in some cases they still remain the more interesting fighter to watch. I think this applies for Ricky Hatton in his 2nd round loss to Manny Pacquiao. Although Pacquiao ended up knocking Hatton down three times in the fight, it was Hatton who was the one getting all the attention because he was coming forward, trying to make the fight and winding up with big swings each time. I don’t know, I guess you could tie it in with having the Arturo Gatti type style that makes Hatton so appealing.

Is Mayweather Sr. to Blame For Hatton’s Loss to Pacquiao?

By William Mackay: With Ricky Hatton’s disastrous performance against Manny Pacquiao last weekend, there have been rumblings about Hatton having problems with his trainer Floyd Mayweather Sr. before the bout. Could Mayweather Sr. be the one to blame for Hatton’s bad performance against Pacquiao? After all, Mayweather Sr. did train Hatton and often time’s trainers are given the blame for the loss and credit for the wins.

Was Pacquiao Spectacular or Hatton Just Awful?

hat342353By Chris Williams: Since defeating Ricky Hatton by a blowout 2nd round KO last Saturday night, Manny Pacquiao has been crowned as the top fighter in boxing for his quick win over the British fighter. However, an argument could be made that Pacquiao’s win wasn’t all that spectacular given the crude way that Hatton fought in the bout. Hatton, 30, showed little in the way of technique in the opening round, as Hatton blindly bum rushed Pacquiao from the opening moments of the fight and tried to steam roller Pacquiao.

News – Chavez Jr. Interested in Pacquiao Bout; Valero Doesn’t Want Prescott

By Jim Dower: Undefeated light middleweight contender Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (39-0-1, 29 KOs) is reportedly interested in a fight with Manny Pacquiao and feels that it would be “an honor” to fight him. Chavez Jr., 23, would appear to be the least likely opponent that Pacquiao would be interested in fighting for a number of reasons, starting with Chavez Jr’s size. Julio fights as a light middleweight, and it would probably be quite difficult for him to get down to what would likely be a bout at 140.

De La Hoya Wants Hatton to Continue Fighting – News

By Eric Thomas: Recently retired six-division champion Oscar De La Hoya is reportedly advising Ricky Hatton not to hang them up so quickly, telling him to that it’s not the end just because he lost a 2nd round TKO to Manny Pacquiao last Saturday night. Obviously, De La Hoya speaks from experience since he’s been beaten six times in his career and kept coming back each until the final loss. However, De La Hoya was never beaten badly until his final fight of his boxing career, an 8th round TKO loss against Pacquiao in December 2008.

Hatton-Pacquiao: The Better Man Didn’t Win

hat4525By Manuel Perez: I don’t care if Ricky Hatton lost by a 2nd round knockout to Manny Pacquiao last Saturday night, I think Hatton is still the better fighter of the two. The loss wasn’t about what Pacquiao did right, but rather how badly Hatton messed things up by employing the wrong tactics in the fight. Hatton knows how to box, as he showed in his 11th round win over Paulie Malignaggi, but Hatton just got caught up in the moment and made the mistake of trying to brawl with Pacquiao too early in the fight.

Pacquiao Needs to Wait on Mayweather Jr.

By Dave Lahr: With Manny Pacquiao’s 2nd round TKO over Ricky Hatton last Saturday night at the MGM Grand, Pacquiao suddenly becomes the biggest name in boxing and can pick and choose whom he wants to fight. There’s a variety of fighters that Pacquiao can fight, such as Shane Mosley, Miguel Cotto, Edwin Valero, and Humberto Soto, but the one fighter that stands out way ahead of the rest is Floyd Mayweather Jr., the former pound-for-pound number #1 fighter in boxing.

Hatton Should Retire!

By Chris Williams: I think I’m speaking for everyone here when I say Ricky Hatton should retire from boxing. If there was ever a good time for this argument to be made it was after Hatton got drilled into the canvas by boxing’s pound-for-pound star Manny Pacquiao in a 2nd round KO on Saturday night at the MGM Grand, in Las Vegas, Nevada.
