Pacquiao Camp Shutting Down Interviews Amid Rumours of Training Camp Troubles

YouTube video

By Raj Parmar: As talks of training camp problems intensify for Manny Pacquiao as he prepares for his once in lifetime showdown with Floyd Mayweather Jr, he has decided to put a ban on doing any interviews until training camp media day on April 15. Manny’s camp apparently feel that the “Pacman” is not performing to the levels he needs to be in training and that all distractions must be cut out at this point.

“Since the red carpet [March 11] until now, we’ve done so much press — triple any other fight — he’s a little tired of it,” Roach said to the LA Times, “I told him I’ll pick up the slack if needed. I can be tired. He can’t.”

Judah: We’re calling Mayweather “The scientist”

floyd6By Chris Williams: Since he started working with WBA/WBC welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr (47-0, 26 KOs) as a sparring partner to help him get ready for his May 2nd fight against Manny Pacquiao, Zab Judah has noticed how much better Mayweather is since their fight in 2006.

Judah sees Mayweather as being “ten times” the fighter that he was back then, and he sees him as being so good that he sees him as a scientist that can get inside people’s heads.

Arum: The majority of the American people are rooting for Pacquiao

YouTube video

By Chris Williams: Manny Pacquiao’s promoter Bob Arum feels that Pacquiao has the backing of the American boxing fans in his upcoming fight against Floyd Mayweather Jr.

For some reason, Arum sees the U.S public favoring Pacquiao over the highly charismatic, blinding fast and incredibly talented Mayweather in their May 2nd fight at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada. I’m not sure how Arum has arrived at this opinion though, because Pacquiao has never brought in the kind of pay-per-view numbers that he’ll be getting for the Mayweather fight before.

YouTube video

By Sebastian Mora: On May 2nd, will it be “Manny Pacquiao is bombing Floyd Mayweather Jr. with his left hand shots! Mayweather can’t see the punches coming! and does not seem to know how to move against this fast and strong southpaw Manny Pacquiao!” Or “Mayweather is just giving Pacquiao a boxing lesson, Manny can’t seem to find him and is eating counter after counter whenever he tries to come in.”

Mayweather vs. Pacquiao PPV will cost $89 for SD, $99.95 for HD

Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao(Photo credit: Esther Lin/Showtime) By Dan Ambrose: The price has finally been revealed for the Floyd Mayweather Jr vs. Manny Pacquiao mega-fight on May 2nd, and it’s exactly what boxing fans have been expecting it to be with the fight going for $89.95 for regular standard definition and $99.95 for high definition. This is a bump up in price from the normal; $64.99 for standard and $74.95 for high definition.

With the price being bumped up approximately $25 for the Mayweather-Pacquiao fight, the question is whether the price will be going up permanently for PPV fights? With the money being so good for HBO, Showtime, the fighters and the cable distributers, it’s always possible that they could keep the prices at this inflated rate.

Is Pacquiao the wrong opponent for Mayweather?

pac77777777By Yannis Mihanos: Manny Pacquiao (57-5-2, 38 KOs) has arguably been caught in far too many difficult fights than his counterpart Floyd Mayweather Jr. (47-0, 26 KOs). At times these fights proved right for Manny and at other times proved wrong.

As I described in a previous article surprisingly it’s the wrong fight that reveals the real face of the fighter. There it appears his talent on its truest form and full scale. It’s the occasion that shows from what he’s made of. And that happens only against fighters who are close, equal or even above his class. These are fights that the fighter is tested mentally and physically.

Heavyweight legend Rocky Marciano’s 49-0 record is seen as a treasured jewel in the sport of boxing and at 47-0, Floyd is quickly nearing Marciano’s mark. Mayweather however may be facing his toughest test in the form of the eight division world champion Pacquiao in a match-up that fans have been craving for over five years.

Algieri sees Mayweather as too skillful for Pacquiao

YouTube video

By Chris Williams: Former WBO light welterweight champion Chris Algieri is picking Floyd Mayweather Jr (47-0, 26 KOs) to beat Manny Pacquiao on May 2nd. Algieri was recently beaten by Pacquiao last November in a one-sided fight. But Algieri still feels that Mayweather is the far better fighter than the 36-year-old Pacquiao, and he sees him being able to take advantage of Pacquiao’s tendency to make a lot of mistakes in his fight.
