By Jason Kim: IBO cruiserweight champion Antonio Tarver (29-6, 20 KO’s) will be looking to knock off one of the young contender 29-year-old Lateef Kayode (18-0, 14 KO’s) next month on May 26th in a venue to be determined in the U.S. Kayode is a Freddie Roach trained fighter with good power but limited experience and boxing skills. He punches hard but he’s very beatable still.

This isn’t the fight that the 43-year-old Tarver was looking for, as he was hoping to get in a fight against WBC cruiserweight champion Krzysztof Wlodarczyk but he’s busy defending his title and isn’t free at the moment.

Kayode defeats Godfrey

By Jim Dower: Undefeated cruiserweight contender Lateef Kayode (17-0, 14 KO’s) easily defeated Matt Godfrey (20-3, 14 KO’s) by a lopsided 10 round unanimous decision on Friday night to capture the vacant NABA cruiserweight title at the Chumash Casino, in Santa Ynez, California. Looking powerful but stiff and more than a little robotic, Kayode knocked Godfrey down three separate times in winning by the judges’ scores of 98-90, 97-90, 98-89.

Kayode looks poor in defeating Iannuzzi

By Dave Lahr: Looks like trainer Freddie Roach is going to have to go back to the old drawing board if he wants to fight someone that can be a future champion in the cruiserweight division because his prospect Lateef Kayode 16-0, 14 KO’s) isn’t the answer. Roach has been working up a serious lather about Kayode to the point I thought the guy must be the second coming of Evander Holyfield when he ruled the cruiserweight division.
